Online Staff Development Syllabus


Course Description:

The purpose of this course is to provide teachers a professional development on Flipgrid through
an online module. Flipgrid is a social learning platform that allows teachers to create video
discussions with their students. Learn how to engage and empower your students to be in control
of their learning by recording and sharing their responses through personal videos. This course is
an overview of how to record a Flipgrid video response, use Flipgrid in the classroom with your
students, create an educator account, and create your grid and topics for your students.

Course Requirements:

Prerequisite skills include:

 Knowledge of students ability levels


 Knowledge of grade level content
 Knowledge of using a Chromebook

Course Goals and Objectives:

The goal of this module is for teachers to increase the use of technology in their classroom that
can address different learning styles and abilities.

After completing this course learners will be able to:

Objective 1: Learners will be able to experiment and construct a video response and educator
account using Flipgrid. Learners will demonstrate their knowledge through exploration and
module activities.

Objective 2: Learners will be able to identify how Flipgrid can address different learning styles
and abilities of students. Learners will demonstrate their knowledge through exploration and
direct instruction.
Objective 3: Learners will be able to demonstrate how they will implement Flipgrid into their
classrooms. Learners will explain their knowledge through a discussion post.

Course Evaluation:

Learners will use questionnaires before and after the course to determine individual needs for
instruction. A professional development evaluation will also be used to collect feedback on this
course.
