LABORATORY SAFETY AND WASTE MANAGEMENT

I. Desired learning outcomes

Working in the laboratory connects the theoretical aspects of the lesson to the skills
that need to be mastered by the students. However, the laboratory is also a potential venue
for accidents and source of wastes. Thus, there is a need to re-learn how to safely do
laboratory work and to manage the wastes derived after doing a laboratory procedure.
After performing this activity, students should be able to:
a. identify and use PPE properly;
b. follow laboratory policies religiously;
c. segregate laboratory waste appropriately; and
d. create activity promoting laboratory safety and waste management.
