MEDICAL ASEPSIS HANDWASHING
II. Materials
Sink with running water
Soap
Hand drier/paper towel
III. Procedure
1. Remove all rings and watches to prevent the jewelry from harboring microorganisms.
Secure your jewelry.
2. Stand back from the sink so that your clothing does not touch the sink.
3. Turn on the faucet and wet hands with running water.
4. Apply soap and lather well.
5. Rub your palms together.
6. Rub your fingers and thumbs and bits in between.
7. Rub your nails on your palms.
8. Rub the back of each hand.
9. Scrub your hands for at least 20 seconds. This can be obtained by humming the “Happy
Birthday” song from beginning to end twice.
10. Rinse with clean running water.
11. Air dry or use paper towel to dry hands. Use the paper towel to put off the faucet.
12. Make sure to keep all the things you brought to the sink in your locker. (CDC)
