PROJECT My Neighbourhood
I.E.S. LA BAHÍA
2016-17
NAME:
GROUP: 1º ESO
ENGLISH SECTION
1st Mission (individual work).
Goal: At the end of this mission you should be able to ask and answer
about how to get to a place in your neighbourhood.
2
1. Speaking Activity: HOW CAN I GET TO…?
Let’s meet a partner and work with him or her using a map of your
neighbourhood (go to Google Maps on Internet). Play your role: you
are lost and the other one has to give directions to get to a place.
You must greet the other person correctly and introduce yourself.
You have to draw or to paste the map of your neighbourhood here and
then write the dialogue.
3
2nd MIssion (individual work).
GOAL: At the end of this mission you should be able to identify the
vocabulary of the different places in a neighbourhood and understand a
conversation about a neighbourhood.
1. Revise and learn this vocabulary about the different places in the
city.
http://learnenglishteens.britishcouncil.org/grammar-vocabulary/vocabulary-exercises/places-
town
2. Listening.
4
1. You are going to make three photos of three different places
of your neighbourhood. One of the pictures must be a graffiti, so
that you can describe the person or people on it. A second photo must
show different types of houses that you can find in your
neighbourhood (detached, semi-detached, etc). Print and paste them
on this sheet. You have to explain:
Where is it? and How can you get there?
5
3rd Mission (team work).
MY NEIGHBOURHOOD ON A FLYER
GOAL: At the end of this mission you should be able to understand the main
information from a text (a flyer).
Read and try to understand the information given about Liverpool on this
flyer.
Write down words that you can use in the flyer of your neigbourhood:
____________________________________________________________
____________________________________________________________
____________________________________________________________
6
IT´S YOUR TURN: MY NEIGHBOURHOOD FLYER
(Remember this is a Team Work)
At the end of your mission you can paste here your flyer and write a
paragraph in which you explain: 3 good things of your neighbourhood from
your point of view, 2 interesting things you can do in your neighbourhood and
nice places to go or meet your friends and 1 important reason why you like
living in your neighbourhood.
7
4th Mission (individual work).
GOAL: At the end of this mission you should be able to express good points
of interest in your neighbourhood using a text and pointing them on a google
map.
FIRST: Add on the google map the different points of interest you consider
are important to talk about when you are going to promote your
neighbourhood. For example: schools, sports centre, churches, monuments,
shopping centres…
SECOND: Write about your neighbourhood. You have to talk about 10 good
aspects about your neighbourhood. This document will be the basis for the
final outcome: a video about your neighbourhood.
GOOGLE MAP
8
TEXT: 10 good aspects about my neighbourhood.
(You can use 140 characters).
STEPS:
1. Let’s take all the relevant aspects of your writings and
decide what 10 you are going to record about.
2. Write a storyboard for you video. You may use an online tool such as
Storyboard That to design it. The storyboard should have:
-Beginning: How to start, title, images, etc.
-Nub: What is going on in the video? How are you going to show these
ten aspects? What are you going to say?
-Ending: You will look for the slogan to promote your city.
Start recording the video. Each student will be responsible for their own
role: cameraman, speaker, actors, film editor.
You can use the online tool WeVideo to create, edit and publish your final
outcome.

MUSIC SECTION
En tu barrio, ¿dónde puedes escuchar
música? Claro, quitando tu casa, porque
imaginamos que oirás música en tu habitación
(In your neighbourhood, where can you listen to
music? Of course, removing your house, because
we think that you'll hear music in your room).
