Lab Objectives:
Circuit Diagram:
Procedure:
1. Connect the circuit as shown in the figure.
2. Change the values of R1, R2 and C1 to get waveform of required frequency.
3. Use an LED at output to observe blinking and also observe it on an oscilloscope.
4. Use values of R3 and R4 to control gain of Operational Amplifier.
5. Observe first stage and final output on both LEDs and Oscilloscope.
Observations:
I used 555 Timer in astable mode. In This mode 555 Timer generates a square wave having Time Period
and Duty Cycle according to our requirements. I adjusted the values of R1, R2 and C1 to get my desired
square wave.
555 Timer is an application of Operational Amplifier and Bi-Polar Junction Transistors. Here in the below
picture, the phenomenon of 555 Timer in astable mode is explained.

I got square wave from 555 Timer, then I inverted that square wave using Operational Amplifier by giving
input on inverting terminals.

Problems Faced:
I finally got waveform pulse using DC Current. I faced problems while inverting the square wave using
Operational Amplifier. I troubleshooted the problem. 555 Timer was generating low amplitude pulse.
Operational Amplifier was not amplifying and inverting the pulse from 555 Timer, but it was inverting
pulses from other sources like Function Generator. I used a BJT based amplifier to amplify the pulse before
feeding it to Operational Amplifier and then I got my desired results.
