INTRODUCTION
In the Indian context, the society is yet to fulfil its responsibility towards one of its large
sections comprising the disabled. It has not yet created opportunities for them to participate
in the over a process of growth and as a result of this, the society has deprived itself from the
potential contribution of this section.
For person with disability it is hard to find a recreational space which is barrier free and
meeting the needs of every individual as a result, disabled are mostly entitled to keep a
distance from recreation activities. This sports centre will help them to improve their physical
and mental well-being. It will also act as a platform for those who are willing to participate in
Paralympic games. In India presently we don’t have a sports centre for physically disabled
people.
The Sports Complexes, Play-Fields, Multi-Gyms, fitness trails and Golf Courses that
government has created all over the city have given to professional sportsmen and to
amateurs the right infrastructure to hone their sporting talents.
Why not for Disabled?
While sport has value in everyone's life, it is even more important in the life of a person with
a disability. Rehabilitative influence sport can have not only on the physical body but also on
rehabilitating people with a disability into society. Today people with a disability participate
in high performance as well as in competitive and recreational sport.Sport can have a positive
impact on the lives of people with disabilities but many face challenges to getting involved in
the sport. It can play a key in the lives and communities of people with disabilities. Being
able to take part in sports can change what the society think and feel about them and also
change what they think and feel about themselves.
