Communication for Various Purposes

Regulation/Control as a Function of Communication

 Used to regulate the nature and amount of activities people engage in.

Examples of Regulations/Control in an oral communication:

2. Non-Verbal Cues

Non-Verbal Cues – what is non-verbal cue?

Non-Verbal cues include all the communication between the sender and receiver

that do not have a direct verbal translation. They are “body movements, body

the class signal, students should stop talking, turn their eyes to the teacher, and return

the signal.

2. Bathroom break – No need for a student blurt out to the whole class when they need

to go. Students can simply flash the crossed fingers signal to the teacher, wait for a

thumbs-up, and be off to take care of their business.
