removal, replacement, and adjustment of the miscellaneous flight con-
trol system components as required at the organizational level of mainte-
nance.

2. USE.

The table of contents in the front of this volume is a useful means of

determining which chapter of the volume contains needed procedures. Go
directly to the table of contents within the applicable volume to determine
the chapter number of the needed procedure.

3. INPUT CONDITIONS.

Under "Personnel Recommended" on input conditions page, fewer per-

sonnel may be utilized than are specified if individuals possess more than
one qualification.

4. CHAPTER REFERENCES.

When a procedure within an individual chapter requires the performance

of the procedures contained in another chapter of this volume, the refer-
ence reads, "See Chapter _____ of this TO".

5. VOLUME REFERENCES.

When a procedure within a chapter of this volume requires the perfor-

mance of a procedure contained in another volume, the volume number
will be referenced.

6. SUPPLEMENTAL REFERENCES.

When a procedure within a chapter of this volume requires the perfor-

mance of an equivalent supplementary task which covers peculiar op-
tional equipment, the "Equivalent Supplementary Manual" and the basic
volume number will be referenced.

7. USE OF ILLUSTRATIONS.

Switch positions, control settings, and instrument readouts as illustrated

are merely representative and do not necessarily show the actual posi-
tions, settings, or indications required by the step procedures contained
herein.

8. APPLICABILITY.

A code system to identify that part of the job guide manual pertaining to
individual aircraft is presented below:

• Text and illustrations applicable to all aircraft listed under "Applica-

bility" on the "Input Conditions" page are not coded.

• Steps, notes, and illustrations applicable to specific aircraft are coded

with a numbered triangle ( , ) keyed to the aircraft serial numbers
listed under "Applicability."

• Complete text pages applicable only to specific aircraft are identified

by a note with the aircraft number code.

cation of electrical power and/or hydraulic pressure would
endanger personnel or equipment, a warning placard will be
placed conspicuously on the aircraft. (See TO 1F-5E-2-12-2
for recommended placard design.)
• Material(s) used in this procedure are classified hazardous
to personnel. Prior to accomplishing this procedure refer to
TO 1F-5E-2-12-2 for precautions to be observed.
• Battery and external electrical power shall be disconnected
during this procedure. (See TO 1F-5E-2-11-1-2.)
• Both hydraulic systems shall remain de-pressurized during
this procedure.

Personnel Recommended: Three

• Before installing stick assembly, apply hand force to lower
front section (8) of control stick (1) to determine if control
stick has sideplay between stick housing (2) and stick hous-
ing support (7). If sideplay is detected, remove shims from
either or both sides of housing support in accordance with
Chapter 4 of this TO.
• If installing replacement control stick, continue with Step 5.
If installing previously installed control stick, continue with
Step 6.

5. Set control stick in fully right position. Remove left control rod (3),
and install AN316-6 nut (4) on exposed rod end (5).
