KEY
2. Findings

Table 4 clearly illustrates (1) the lower levels of satisfaction of junior staff
compared (2) to senior staff in most aspects. The dissatisfaction among junior
staff is strongest (3) with the equipment they have to use and their furniture.
Neither junior nor senior staff find the pantry satisfactory (4).

2.1 Equipment
Only a quarter (5) of junior staff are satisfied with the equipment, opposed (6) to
nearly three quarters of senior staff. One possible (7) reason for this is that
senior staff have recently been provided (8) with new computers and telephones,
while junior members have to use computers that are over (9) 5 years old. This
means (10) that their computers often slow down when many programs are being
run at the same time.

2.2 Furniture
A similar result (11) is found with office furniture. Over half of junior staff are (12)
disgruntled with their tables and chairs, compared to only (13) a quarter of senior
staff. This could be due (14) to the junior staff having wooden and plastic furniture
which is now 10-15 years old, while senior staff usually get new furniture every 2-
3 years. One result of this is perhaps that junior staff tend (15) to have more
health problems and so take more sick leave then ther senior colleagues.

2.3 Pantry
Both junior and senior staff are discontented (16) with the pantry in the office
with just around (17) half of all staff expressing satisfaction with this aspect (18).
It appears (19) that staff want more than just a water bottle and fridge in the
pantry, and it seems (20) that they are also unhappy with its cleanliness. This
means that all staff are inclined (21) to leave the office at lunch time and queue
up at nearby fast food restaurants, which could result in more stress being
caused.
