Description: Student will be ask and provide basic personal information, read and
respond accordingly to simple texts related to personal information,
listen to authentic materials and watch videos to improve
pronunciation and develop language skills and learn about the
Hispanic cultural norms associated with greetings and naming
traditions. You will also learn words to describe your moods,
expressions of courtesy and the Spanish Alphabet.
User Interactions: There are different ways to greet persons in Spanish depending on
who you are talking to. The pictures below will illustrate.

Basic phrases for greeting another person:


In a less formal situation we use:
¡Hola! Used at any time of the day. ¡The h is
silent!
In a more formal situation:
¡Buenos días! Only used in the morning.
¡Buenas tardes! Used in the afternoon or early
evening.
¡Buenas noches! Used at night either as a
greeting or a goodbye.
