Bhagavad Gita Dhyanam Lyrics (English+Sanskrit) & Meaning (English)

ॐ पाथाय तबो धतां भगवता नारायणेन वयं यासेन थतां परु ाणमु नना म ये महाभारतम ् ।

अ वैतामत
ृ व षणीं भगवतीम ्- अ टादशा या यनीम ् अ ब वामनस
ु दधा म भगव - गीते भव वे षणीम ् ॥
१॥

Bhagavad Gita taught to Arjuna, by Lord Narayana himself, written in the middle of the
Mahabharata by the Old Sage Vyasa

O Divine mother, she who showers Elixir of Advaita on us, O mother of 18 chapters, I
meditate on thee, O Bhagavad gita, the destroyer of illusion of manifestation (Samsaara)

नमोऽ तु ते यास वशालबु धे फु लार व दायतप ने ।

येन वया भारततैलपण


ू ः वा लतो ानमयः द पः ॥

Through whom, the lamp of light is filled with oil of knowledge.

प नपा रजाताय तो वे क
ै पाणये ।

ानमु ाय कृ णाय गीतामत ृ दह


ु े नमः ॥ ३
Salutations to Krishna, the bestower of all desires of the desirees.

The holder of JnanaMudra, the milker of the Elixir of Bhagavad Gita.

सव प नषदो गावो दो धा गोपाल न दनः ।

पाथ व सः सध
ु ीभ ता द ु धं गीतामत
ृ ं महत ् ॥ ४

All the Upanishads are cows; the Milker is Krishna, the cowherd boy;

Arjuna is the calf; Wise and pure men drink the milk, the supreme, immortal nectar of the

ु े वसत
ु ं दे वं कंसचाणरू मदनम ् ।

दे वक परमान दं कृ णं व दे जग गु म ् ॥ ५॥

O son of Vasudeva, O Lord who destroyed Kamsa and Chanuura

O Joy of mother Devaki, Salutations O Krishna, the teacher of the world.

भी म ोणतटा जय थजला गा धारनीलो पला श य ाहवती कृपेण वहनी कणन वेलाकुला ।

अ व थाम वकणघोरमकरा दय
ु धनाव तनी सो ीणा खलु पा डवै रणनद कैवतकः केशवः ॥

Aswathama and Vikarna were the dangerous alligators, Duryodhana was the whirlpool,
Pandavas crossed this river of war with Krishna as their helmsman.

पाराशयवचः सरोजममलं गीताथग धो कटं नाना यानककेसरं ह रकथा- स बोधनाबो धतम ् ।

लोके स जनष पदै रहरहः पेपीयमानं मद


ु ा भय
ू ा भारतप कजं क लमल- वं सनः ेयसे ॥ ७

May this lotus of the Mahabharata, born in the lake of the words of Vyasa (Son of
Parashara), with intense sweet fragrance of the essense of Gita, with many stories as its
stamens, fully opened by the discourses on Hari, the destroyer of the effects of Kaliyuga,
and drunk joyously by the bees of good men in the world, day by day become the bestower
of good to us.

मक
ू ं करो त वाचालं प गंु ल घयते ग रम ् ।

य कृपा तमहं व दे परमान दमाधवम ् ॥


I bow down to Sri Krishna, the source of all joy, whose compassion brings speech from the
lips of the dumb and carries the lame over mountains

यं मा व णे म तः तु वि त द यैः तवैः वेदैः सा गपद मोप नषदै ः गायि त यं सामगाः ।

यानावि थतत गतेन मनसा प यि त यं यो गनः य या तं न वदःु सरु ासरु गणाः दे वाय त मै नमः ॥ ९॥
Salutation to him who is worshipped with divine chants by Brahma, Varuna, Indra , Rudra,
Maruta, Who is pleased by singers of Sama Veda by singing Vedas and Upanishads
following the word sequence, Who is seen by yogis who are absorbed in him, with their mind
merging in him, And whose end is not known even by the hoards of devas and Asuras.
