Reflection Paper Assignment

Taking a class about computers in 2019 seems redundant. However, I quickly learned
that was not the case. Technology is changing daily and it makes sense to properly learn the
basics. With that knowledge one can properly build off that and potentially create the next big
thing. The following paragraphs contains information about the technology tools that I learned to
properly use within three months, how said tools will impact my career and whether I find the
technology empowering.
I consider myself to be pretty computer savvy, but I was still able to gain knowledge in
this course. The use of Weebly.com was very new to me. I have used a site to create a website
before so I thought this would be no problem. Weebly, while not rocket science, was not as easy
to maneuver as the last site that I used. As you go through the site, you will see many things. I’ve
learned how to add video, create a slideshow and even at embed codes to the site. I think learning
about the use of embed code was useful and will be in the future as well. Another tool that I
found will be useful in the future is infographics. Creating the infographic was a fun exercise and
one can pass along a wide variety of information using such platform.
I know in the future as either an educator, interpreter, or both that the ability to construct
a website will play in my favor. Whether it’s trying to promote myself to gain clientele in the
interpreting world, or to share information with parents, staff, and students in the education
world. This holds true for the use of infographics as well. Both Weebly and creating an
infographic is also something that I can incorporate in a lesson plan for my students. They both
take some getting used to but are equally worth the effort once the product is finished. I used
infographics to create a different way to pass along information about how to achieve a
successful school year. It included tips that students and teachers can use to be successful.
I find being able to create the items mentioned above empowering. When you are the
person that is creating the tool, you feel empowered. Mainly because you have full control over
what it is being produced. However, as mentioned earlier, you also gain a sense of pride once the
product is complete. These things are also appreciated by those that are viewing the information.
One, this is a new way to receive information and then depending on one’s creativity, that can
make receiving the information that much better.
In conclusion, technology is changing every day and learning the basics will only help
one produce great work when building off that knowledge in the future. The tools that I found
most inspiring and impactful were Weebly.com and the creation of the infographic. This was
because they both can be vibrant and allow freedom of creation. If I am interpreting, I am sure
that my clients will appreciate the create ways that I am able to get information across and
communicate. Also, I am certain that my students will find both tools fun to use and they will
certainly gain the targeted knowledge from using them.
