1.0 INTRODUCTION:

1.1 This report presented herein deals with the laboratory investigations carried out by us
to access the nature of materials to evaluate the material parameters, Auger bore holes
& Trail pits for Preparation of Detailed project Report for Development of
Economic Corridor, Inter Corridor and Feeder Routes to Improve the Efficiency
of Freight Movement in India (LOT-2/Punjab/Package-3) in The State of Punjab
and Haryana.
1.2 Client’s help is gratefully acknowledged in providing material collection, Auger bore
holes & Trail pits locations, close supervision and checking during sampling and
cooperation and guidance during preparation of report.
1.3 The work of Geotechnical Investigation was awarded to M/s Sai Geotechnical
Engineers Pvt. Ltd., 22, Indraprastha Apartment, 826, Shalimar Garden Ext-1,
Sahibabad, Ghaziabad (U.P.) by M/s RITES Limited.
1.4 This report is based upon the results of laboratory tests conducted on selected material
samples collected from different locations, Auger boreholes and trail pits conducted
for section Phagwara to Hoshiarpur Road Section (NH-344 B), Jagadhari to
Himachal Pradesh Border (NH-907) and Kaithal to Khanauri Road (NH 152A).

2.0 DETAILS OF SITE :

2.1 Details of the location for collecting materials of different size are given in the report
in Annexure1, 2 & 3. Collection of materials were carried out according to as per
instruction given by client. Location of pit and auger are as follows:

3.0 SCOPE OF WORK:

3.0 The scope of work provided to us for this project was limited to the following:-
3.1 Collecting materials from different site according to instruction given by client.
3.2 Collecting soil sample, water sample, sand sample and stone aggregate sample from
different locations according to instructions given by client.
3.3 Conducting the following laboratory tests as per relevant IS/IRC codes on material
samples are as under:

4.0 RECOMMENDATION:

PHAGWARA-HOSHIARPUR ROAD SECTION (NH-344B)


CBR for design can be taken 7 in this section. As per IS 36-2010 sec: 4.4.2 Soil can
be use as fill material. IRC 36-2010 should be followed.
JAGADHARI-HIMACHAL PRADESH BORDER ROAD SECTION (NH-907)
CBR for design can be taken 9 in this section. As per IS 36-2010 sec: 4.4.2 Soil
can be use as fill material. IRC 36-2010 should be followed.

KAITHAL-KHANAURI ROAD SECTION (NH-152 A)


CBR for design can be taken 11 in this section. As per IS 36-2010 sec: 4.4.2 Soil can
be use as fill material. IRC 36-2010 should be followed.
5.0 DISCLAIMER:
For the section Jagadhari to Himachal Pradesh Border ( NH-907), Kaithal to Khanauri
Road (NH 152A) and Phagwara-Hoshiarpur Road Section (NH-344 B) location of Fly
Ash collection points were suggested by the client but thermal power plat authorities
refuse to provide the sample for testing. After that as per client instruction, we
collected soil samples instead of fly ash for lab testing. Stone aggregate and sand
materials were not collected from Taziawal, Haryana, Damtal, Himachal Pradesh
because all stone crushers at that location have been closed and the client was
informed for the same.

6.0 CLOSURE
We appreciate the opportunity given to us to submit this report. This presented report
is based on observations and tests on samples collected from different locations as
decided by the client. In case any difference is noticed in the reported results please
contact us before proceeding with further construction.
