GRADATION

The above tested material was analyzed for their grain size distribution and the job mix formula has been worked
out as per MORTH specification. On the basis of grading of individual aggregates the proportion found most
suitable for the design was as follows;
19.0 mm : 11.2mm : Stone Dust
32 % : 54 % : 14%

DESIGN DATA:
Marshall Specimen block were prepared from the blended aggregates after mixing and baking at relevant
temperature in above ratio with 3.30 % bitumen content by weight of total mix, with 75 blows from each
side. The specimen blocks so obtained were tested for all the required tests.
It was found that optimum bitumen content at the rate of 3.30 % of total mix satisfied the MORTH
specification for bituminousmacadam. The density was determined as 2.21 g/cc at 3.30% Bitumen content.

S.No Parameters Results

1 % Bitumen contents by weight of Total Mix 3.30%
2 Bulk Density, gm/cc 2.210
3 Corrected Marshall Stability (Kg) 1418
4 Marshall Flow (mm) 2.58

RECOMMENDED MIX:

The trial mix at 3.30 % bitumen in mix meets to the MORTH requirement& recommended below:
a) Composition of aggregates :

1. 19.0 mm = 32 %

2. 11.2 mm = 54 %

3. Stone Dust = 14 %

b) Optimum binder content:

1. By weight of total mix = 3.30 %

REMARKS:

1. The design is subjected to change if gradation of ingredients is not with in the permissible variation as

MORT&H.

2. All quality aspects as mentioned in the MORTH-specification may be maintained before and during the

Execution of work.
