1.Title :

Enhancement of Operational Efficiency at ZARA

2.Introduction:

Zara is a Spanish clothing retailer based in Galicia, Spain. Founded by Amancio


Ortega in 1975, it is the flagship chain store of the Inditex group, the world's largest
apparel retailer. The fashion group also owns brands such as Pull&Bear, Massimo
Dutti, Bershka, Stradivarius, Oysho, Zara Home and Uterqüe. The company operates
over 2,220 stores and is present in 88 countries. Zara has consistently acted as a
pioneer in fast fashion based in a highly responsive supply chain. The customer is at
the heart of a unique business model, which includes design, production, distribution
and sales through our extensive retail network.

It is a high end fashion house offering apparel , footwear and accessories for women ,
men and children . Stores of ZARA offer a competitive blend of fashion , quality and
value for money that are located in prime locations and in upscale shopping centers .
Its in house design and production capabilities provides customers fresh designs
twice a week throughout the year .

3.Literature Review : In order to perform an exhaustive secondary research ,


relevant research papers will be studied in this domain . The main focus will be to
understand the intricacies of a responsive supply chain that is being implemented by
the leaders of the apparel industry in correspondence with managing their operational
efficiency .

4.Methodology :

 The project is a secondary research project which will require studying of the
company’s annual reports for FY 2017-18, FY 2018-19 . The resulting of these
reports will be represented in both quantitative and qualitative analysis after
comparing respective attributes .

 The project will also be helpful in ascertaining how appropriate integration of


various SCM partners can enhance the operational efficiency and add on in the
performance measures of ZARA’s SCM .

 Devising of distribution strategies will also be studied to gain more insights in


network planning .
