Educational Philosophy

I believe that an elementary school classroom should be a welcoming, safe environment

for every student to grow, speak their mind, and build on their knowledge. I will use strategies
such as turn and talk, centers, and group tables to ensure students learn to collaborate and respect
their classmates. I will use positive reinforcement and classroom jobs to make every student feel
valued and respected.
Elementary education takes a vital role in establishing a foundation for students to grow
upon in their later years. Teachers should never diminish the importance of every child’s
education in the classroom, their job and dedication is crucial for their students’ success in life
beyond the classroom. Teachers spend a total of about 1,000 hours with the children in their
classroom during the year. Every second of that time should be utilized.
Every student has individual needs that should be meet by the teacher through
differentiation and effective teaching for each student’s learning style. To ensure each students
needs are met I will use a combination of hands on activities, visual aids, class discussions, read
aloud’s, and independent work. I feel that teachers should be flexible in teaching, ready to
address any problem or question that may come from a student in the classroom.
