To Whom It May Concern:

Please accept this letter and my resume as an expressed interest in the math teaching
position. In the fall of 2019, I completed my methods practicum at Naperville Central High
School, where I planned, taught, and facilitated instruction in Algebra I & II classrooms. During
this experience, I also taught an algebra support classroom designed specifically for struggling
students. Additionally, I worked in a specialized Algebra II class that focused on individual
supports within a smaller class size. This class has a homogenous group of students for all core
classes, a lower student to teacher ratio and slower pace.
I have demonstrated excellence at the undergraduate mathematical level by obtaining a
B.S. in Mathematics with a specialization in Secondary Education from Aurora University; where
I was challenged and grew into the mathematician I am today. With my peers, we created a math
community that allowed us to collaborate, and experiment with out of the box ideas in order to
dissect and solve high-level math problems. Embedded within my math coursework, I also have
experience with multiple computer languages that enhanced my ability to perform high-level
computation problems, as well as expanded my understanding of important theorems,
conjectures, and experimental data.
In addition to teaching the curriculum, it is important to implement a Growth Mindset,
Social Emotion Learning, and Writing in Mathematics. I believe that it is critical for learners to
struggle and learn from their mistakes, to be successful in the future. For this to happen, every
student must first feel safe to do so. The way to establish this culture is to create a collaborative
and communicative centered classroom.
I know I can benefit your program and would embrace any questions that you may have.
I welcome the opportunity to be granted an interview for this position to discuss my skills further.
Thank you for your consideration for the math position.

Sincerely,

Nicholas Rohl
