LO3 - Evaluation

My survey helped me to understand what to include
in my short film. The questions I asked helped me to
gain an understanding of what my target audience
are interested in and this will help me to know what to
include to make them want to watch my film. I will be
able to make them relate to the character which will
interest them. For example I asked them what I could
include that would make it more exciting for them
and I got results such as a plot twist and intense music.
My infographic was creative and informative. It
helped me to display my research in a way that
interests the reader. It also made my results easy to
understand and quick to read for both the target
audience and myself. This meant I could take the
results and show them in my video easier.
One of the questions in my survey was: do you think
my film should be happy and entertaining or sad and
moving? I found that 100% of the people that took my
survey suggested that it was sad and moving. So I am
going to try and show this in my final product.
My planning has helped me to know the locations I
need to film at and therefore when I can get there
and how I will get there. It has also helped to get a
better understanding of what I need to film and how I
will film it so that when It comes to the filming I will be
prepared and ready to go. My planning has also
helped my actress understand the role that they need
to be playing so that they are ready.
I might run out of time during the filming stages which
means that I need to use my planning to work quickly
and efficiently to prevent this. I need to find a time to
go to Reading by train to film some of the scenes
which might be difficult to arrange for both actress
and myself.. I might also not have enough time to
finish the edit so I’m going to have to work quickly.

I am mostly on track this week. I have completed all
my planning to a good standard. However I could
make them better and I also need to finish some of
the tasks.
To stay on track this week I need to finish all my
planning such as adding pictures to my location
recces and adding more detail to the other stages.
This will mean that my planning is easier to understand
when it comes to the filming of my short film.
This week was spent filming and editing your short film
My planning has helped me to complete all the
filming I needed. It meant that I did not forget any
clips that needed to be filmed and it also meant that I
could complete all the camera work faster as I didn’t
have to think about how I would do it because it was
all planned out. It also helped my actress to know
what she needed to do and how she needed to do it
so she felt prepared and ready to go.
My filming process took a long time. This was because
I needed to go to a different location. I needed to
film in Reading town centre which meant that I
needed to get a train there. This was difficult as I
needed to find a time that was suitable for my actress
and also for myself. It was also difficult to film outside
of the shop because it was dark and there were lots
of other people walking around. The filming that we
did at my house was easier as there weren’t other
people around and it was easier for both of us to get
to. The editing process was fairly straight forward I just
had to put all the clips together in order. The trickiest
part was adding all the sounds and also adding the
news clips. This took the most time as I needed to
make them fit the other clips nicely.
I learnt how to get clips from YouTube and add them
to my own film. I also learnt how to zoom in on a clip
that didn’t fit the other clips to make it look more
natural. I didn’t learn any new filming skills as the clips I
needed were simple to do.
I am very happy with my final product I think it shows
my story line very well and it is entertaining to watch. I
also think that the music I chose fits it well. My finished
piece did not match my idea I had at the beginning
as I did not think it would be a story that would interest
my target audience so I changed the idea slightly to
interest more people.
