Smart shaming or also known as anti-intellectualism, is an act wherein
I. Brief Description of the project someone mocks or tease another person for their critical, excellent
(Rationale) thoughts and achievements. Basically, a result of ignorance that a lot of
populations take and especially, something that a lot of excelling people
regularly have to deal with. This kind of social issue commonly occurs
inside the school campus or within the campus premises.

Every so often, when someone speaks fluently in English, there will be

inevitable responses like “Dami mong alam!”, “Edi ikaw na magaling!”,
“Nosebleed ako bes!” and the like. Basically when a person is doing a
good job, they will overrate that someone. Assumedly with this kind of
behavior, there will be long-term effects for those who were affected of
smart shaming. It may include peer pressure, low self-esteem in
performing academic activities and even, anxiety and depression.

That’s why the researchers aims to deeply dive on this discreet

predicament to prevent the frequency of occurrences of smart shaming
inside the classrooms since it will result to an unhealthy, unproductive
environment that may affect the performance of theirs as a student and
an individual mentally. On the other hand, this study will contribute
knowledge and awareness to students and society that can serve as an
eye opener that everyone is free to share their ideas and, that shaming
others will never be a way to promote self-development.
