How do we make globalization more just?

“Globalization is a concept that is not easy to define because in reality, globalization has a shifting nature.
It is complex, multifaceted, and can be influenced by the people who define it.” By giving simple definition of
globalization, we just make it more complicated but more just. Globalization is the connectivity of all things,
we cannot stop the flow yet we can go with it. Globalization is a reality of life, a reality that makes every
generation inclusive and exclusive in all different aspects of our life.

According to Richard L. Harris, “globalization refers in general to the worldwide integration of humanity
and the compression of both the temporal and spatial dimensions of planet-wide human interaction. It has
aggravated many of the region’s most chronic problems- such as the pronounced degree of economic
exploitation and social inequalities that have characterized Latin America since it came under European
colonial domination in the sixteenth century.” With this, we can say that globalization that all of us are
interconnected with each other, we are connected on what is happening in our surroundings, connected with the
flaws of government, connected with the people that we are not familiar and connected on what is happening
on our environment, thus we can conclude that globalization is more just. However, when we are going to look
at the other side of globalization, it is just an ordinary situation but a worse problem. A problem that gives
some factors in the economy of every country. But have you ever ask yourself, why globalization does exist?
Have you ever try to ask yourself, why we need to experience this kind of phenomena of globalization? And
have you ever try to answer those questions on your own? We are living in a world that is full of problems and
challenges, but what we are doing, we are just ignoring those problems and challenges because we do not have
any care for it, or simply we are not concern on what is happening to our surroundings.

Globalization needs rules and a recognized framework to ensure that it benefits everybody, delivering
sustained and inclusive economic growth. As with national legislation, it is a frame wok that requires constant
adjustments. We should always take the risk to adjust for everything, we need to accept the fact that we are
living in a modern and technological world. There are lots of benefits that we can get in globalization yet we
don’t have assurance, but we should always make impossible things, possible, because if we abandon
globalization altogether and retreat from it, it is a wrong move. On the contrary, we should be seeking way to
deepen and broaden the cooperation of our county to other country as well in the global market, it could help us
to make the flow of globalization soft and it may lead us to a conclusion that globalization is more just.

“Globalization is a conceptualization of the international political economy which suggests and believes
essentially that all economic activity, whether local, regional or national, must be conducted within a
perspective and attitude that constantly is global and worldwide in its scope.”, Robert Spich. Policy makes
globalization more just, rules and laws that gives the limitations. It is an economic activity which means it is
focuses on the declining and increasing the economic growth of a certain country, globalization helps us in
different ways that would give us more benefits as well as the problems of the society. We have our own
limitations, we have our own choices in life but we need to control it because if we cannot control it, it will ruin
everything, just like globalization, as times goes by it will increase the possibility that a good economic system
without limitations can ruin everything. We need to be more optimistic on what will going to happen because
we are living in a real world that the only thing that is constant is change, a change that would affect anyone if
it will change. I just a seconds there is already a change, we cannot stop change, we cannot pull back on what is
the result of that change and that is globalization, we cannot stop it, we cannot pull back the things that already
happen. As a result of this sudden kind of change about globalization many are not still aware and still affected.
But, do you believe that we are moving in a world of globalization? Simply because in our world globalization
do exist, globalization makes every country and makes every people move on its own, but they are not thinking
what will be the result of that move, because we always want for the better however, if that moved has a lot of
consequences we are afraid to face it all alone, and that is globalization it makes anybody become irresponsible
to what will going to happen on us. Globalization takes place because we are not contented, we re not able to
meet the expectation of others, we are not able give respect for what we have, we are praising another yet you
are shamed on what you have. For example, a Filipino who loves Korean drama but she hates Filipino movies,
it is simply because of globalization, we forget what is our own, we are trying to escape in the real scenario that
by simply doing and praising other culture of other country we already forget the things that we have. I am not
saying that adapting other culture is not good, but it is the reality of life, we are giving support to others yet you
cannot do that to your own country, because you are bringing new concepts of your life and overtaking the
other concepts. Globalization is not just simply about economy, it is not just about poverty and inequality, this
is all about me, you and us, this is all about how we handle situations, and give solutions to every problems that
we encounter.

“Globalization is a process which generate flows and connections, not simply across nation-states and
national territorial boundaries, but between global regions, continents and civilizations. This invites a
definition of globalization as: `a historical process which engenders a significant shift in the spatial reach of
networks and systems of social relations to transcontinental or inter regional patterns of human organization,
activity and the exercise of power.`” that is according to Anthony G. McGrew, “Global Legal Interaction and
Present-Day Patterns of Globalization”, thus, this definition of globalization simply says that the connection of
ones self is not just only connected to its own nation-states, it is also connected to the other countries,
continents and civilizations, it is also a historical process because globalization makes history more relevant
and related to all, it is a process by which a certain thing can be fix or develop by simply connecting on what
globalization means to us, and it makes globalization more just and complex to the other aspects.

Growing inequality in the advanced industrial countries was a long-predicted but seldom advertised
consequence of globalization. This merely means that globalization is not fair, but we can make it into fair
situation through full economic integration that implies the equalization of unskilled wages everywhere in the
world, and though we are nowhere near attaining this goal, the downward pressure on those at the bottom is
evident. Now, the problem is that economic globalization has outpaced the globalization of politics and
mindsets. We have become more independent increasing the need to act together, but we do not have the
institutional frameworks for doing this effectively and democratically. Enhancing our understanding of
globalization’s problems will help us to formulate remedies, some are small, some are large aimed at both
providing symptomatic relief and addressing the underlying causes. There is a broad array of policies that can
benefit people in both developing and developed countries, thereby providing globalization with the popular
legitimacy that it currently lacks. In other words, globalization can be changed; indeed, it is clear that it will be
changed. The question is whether will be forced upon us by a crisis or result from careful, democratic
deliberation and debate. Crisis-driven change risks producing a backlash against globalization, or a haphazard
reshaping of it, thus merely setting the stage for more problems later on. By contrast, taking control of the
process holds out the possibility of remaking globalization.

Globalization has created developmental opportunities for countries through diffusing technology,
widening markets for goods and services, expanding investment, and internationalizing businesses and business
processes. Yet there is concern about the potentially negative impacts of globalization, particularly on
employment, working conditions, equality, international labor standards and social protection. The current
financial and economic crisis has greatly deepened this concern.

Fair globalization is about harnessing the benefits of globalization while promoting sustainable economic
and social development. A key premise of fair globalization is the importance of social dialogue among
governments and workers and employers organizations within and across borders to achieve social cohesion
and promote international labor standards.

Globalization is reality, we can’t stop it yet we can do things to control it. Globalization is a fair
phenomena that affects everybody because you are not the only one who are affected and when globalization
doesn’t exist, we are just only living in the dimensions of old daily living. The only thing that we can do now,
is to go with the flow but don’t forget our own. For now, all we need to do is to take globalization in a serious
way, because we cannot simply define globalization just like or just like that, accept the fact that globalization
is already part of different generations, is already part of our daily living. We need more patience and
understanding in this kind of issue.

Globalization itself is fair one. We can just merely say that this phenomena give benefits to all of us.

Globalization takes place in every generation that supports the economy of every country.

Globalization is more than just other things.
