A farewell speech performed by a high school valedictorian.

Overall, his lengthy speech

is composed of personal anecdotes. At the beginning, he let his co-graduate played a music in
the background using a guitar to set the mood of his audience and keeping them engaged
through-out his valedictory address. It also helped him delivered it in a more dramatic way since
the function of his speech is about expressing or showing his feelings and emotions about how
his journey have been in high school. The speaker made a good connection towards the audience
by adding some real-life stories and jokes in his speech. He also comically relates the four years
of high school to a Rubik’s cube with some music in the background.
A part of his speech, in some parts, were delivered unclear. He was not pronouncing the
words properly and clearly because of the way he talks too fast that the audience may not
understand what he was trying to address. I bet the people in front may understand what he is
saying but as a speaker you should consider your audience at the back since it is a public type of
communication, you must adjust the loudness and clearness of your voice and words, not too soft
but also not too loud.
Additionally, his point of idea about his speech relating it to a Rubik’s cube was powerful,
it was a deep idea. He has a good vocal variety and expressiveness. His hand gestures were
limited but his eye contact to the audience was fine. The speech was memorable, engaging and
dramatic but most of the time it was humorous. Lastly, with his speech, he strongly related the
message to the audience.
