Description (What is it about?

The study aims to determine the improvements in traffic after Isko Moreno cleaned
Divisoria through removing illegal vendors selling on the streets.

Significance (Why is it relevant)

This study will benefit the following:

Commuters. This study will benefit the commuters by providing them what are the
improvements in traffic in Divisoria and how do the community benefit from it. Furthermore, this
study will be able to help them by analyzing the traffic situation in Divisoria.

Government. This study will benefit the government officials, especially members of
Department of Transportation, so that they will have an idea on how well the roads of Divisoria
has improved in traffic.

Public Transportation. This study will benefit the public transportation by giving
passengers and drivers an idea whether the traffic in Divisoria are viable and sustainable.

Economy. The study will also benefit the local economy by providing the economic views
and perspectives of passengers and drivers towards the traffic in Divisoria after removing illegal
vendors.

Future Researchers. This study will benefit future researchers in improving the study and
serves as a reference and basis for future researches.

Nature/Category

After carefully analyzing the objective of the study, the researchers decided that the
research falls under the category of basic research. According to Lauer and Riley (2018), basic
research study is defined as a systematic study in which gives greater knowledge and/or
understanding to a certain phenomenon without any special applications.

Data Type

The study is qualitative research because it focuses on the “why” rather than the “what” of
social phenomena and the data being used comes from direct experiences of people.

Procedures

The researchers will conduct interviews with open-ended questions to various people like
the commuters, traffic enforcers, drivers and residents of Divisoria. According to Boyce and Neale
(2006), research interviews are conducting interviews that discover the perspective of an individual
in a certain phenomenon.

Population of the Study

The respondents of the study will focus on the community, specifically commuters, traffic
enforcers, drivers and residents of Divisoria. In addition, the study aims to interview, at random,
10 commuters, 10 traffic enforcers, 10 drivers, and 10 residents with a total of 40 respondents.

Problems of the Study

This study will determine community’s perspective on modernization of public utility vehicles
towards local economy, traffic congestion, and satisfactory rate in Manila.

Specifically, it will aim to answer the following questions

1. What are the perspective of the passengers towards the effects of modernizing public utility
vehicles in terms of:
1.1 The Passenger’s Safety?
1.2 The reduction of traffic congestion?
1.3 The fare of the passengers in comparison on before and after the modernization?
1.4 The passenger’s overall feedback?

2. What is the perspective of the students towards modernization of public utility vehicles in terms
of:

2.1 The convenience of their ride?


2.2 The payment of their fare in comparison to regular passengers.
2.3 Their overall feedback?

3. What is the perspective of the citizens who gets affected by the lack of public utility vehicles
before and after the modernization in terms of:

3.1 The traffic congestions in the affected areas where the public utility vehicles go
through?
3.2 The improvement of the public utility vehicles in comparison with what their
feedback before the modernization.
3.3 The increase of the number of public utility vehicles after modernization.?
