FOURTH-ENGINEER'S RESPONSIBILITIES AND

DUTIES

Reports To:
The Fourth Engineer is to assist the Second engineer in the operation and maintenance
of the main engine and all machinery.
He/she shall perform specific duties as assigned and report any operational deficiencies
to the Second engineer for any appropriate remedial action.

Qualifications:
In all cases the minimum qualifications for this position will be in accordance with the
relevant section of STCW as issued by IMO.

Responsibilities & Duties:


1.The Fourth Engineer is required to assist the Second engineer in routine
administrative work such as reporting, inventories; repair lists the maintenance of
engine logs.

2.The Fourth Engineer is responsible to the Chief Engineer for the following:
(a)For keeping an engine room watch at sea and in port, if so required.
(b)For the maintenance and operation of the ship's pumps, purifiers, oil separator,
sewage plant, air compressors, etc.
(c)For the performance on any duty specifically assigned to him by the Chief Engineer.
(d)For the performance of such duties and maintenance work as may be directed by the
Chief Engineer or Second engineer.

3.The Fourth Engineer shall report to the Chief Engineer upon joining a vessel and shall
consult with the Officer being relieved regarding the condition of machinery and
equipment for which he/she is responsible.
The Fourth Engineer shall, in the company with the officer being relieved, if time
permits, make an inspection of all items for which he/she is responsible, and shall report
any deficiencies found to the Chief Engineer.

4.The Fourth Engineer is to maintain and test:


a)CABA Compressor;
b)Semi Portable Fire Extinguishers.
c)Ventilation Equipment Fire Flaps.
d)Mechanical Emergency Trips;
e)Lifeboat Engines.

5.All crew members aboard the vessel are responsible for the identification of hazards.
Where possible such hazards should be rectified immediately and in all cases recorded
in the hazard log. All incidents and near misses shall be recorded in the hazard log.
6.The incumbent shall at all times comply with MT. SC 3's requirement for minimum
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

7.All crew members shall actively participate in MT. SC 3's Health and Safety
Management and Environmental Protection programs.

8.All crew shall participate in the vessel's emergency gear testing rounds as required by
the Master.

Authorities:
The incumbent is authorized to initiate action, identify and record problems, recommend
and implement solutions to ensure non-conformances are corrected.

kejanggalan pengoperasian kepada Masinis Dua untuk tindakan perbaikan yang tepat.

Kualifikasi:
Kualifikasi minimum dalam semua bidang untuk posisi ini harus sesuai dengan pasal
yang terkait dari STCW sebagaimana yang dikeluarkan oleh IMO.

1.Masinis Empat diharuskan membantu Masinis Dua dalam pekerjaan administrasi


rutine seperti pelaporan, inventarisisasi, daftar perbaikan dan perawatan Engine Log.

2.Masinis Empat bertanggung jawab kepada Kepala Kapal Mesin untuk hal berikut:
(a)Untuk melakukan penjagaan di kamar mesin di laut atau di pelabuhan, jika
dibutuhkan.
(b)Untuk perawatan dan pengoperasian pompa kapal,purifiers,oil separator, sewage
plant,air compressor,dan lain-lain.
(c)Pelaksanaan setiap tugas khusus yang diberikan oleh Kepala Kapal Mesin
kepadanya.
(d)Untuk menjalankan tugas tugas dan pekerjaan perawatan yang mungkin ditunjuk
oleh Kepala Kapal Mesin atau Masinis Dua.

3.Masinis Empat harus melapor kepada Kepala Kapal Mesin ketika naik ke kapal dan
harus berkonsultasi dengan perwira yang digantikan mengenai kondisi permesinan atau
peralatan yang menjadi tanggung jawabnya.
Fourth Engineer harus ditemani oleh perwira yang digantikan, jika ada waktu,
melakukan pemeriksaan semua hal yang menjadi tanggung jawabnya,dan harus
melaporkan setiap kekurangan yang ditentukan kepada Kepala Kapal Mesin.

4.Masinis Empat harus merawat dan menguji:


a)CABA Compressor.
b)Pemadam Kebakaran semi portable.
c)Ventilation Equipment Fire Flaps. d)Mechanical Emergency Trips.
e)Lifeboat Engines.

5.Semua awak kapal bertanggung jawab untuk mengidentifikasi bahaya. Bila


dimungkinkan bahaya tersebut harus segera ditanggulangi dan semua kejadian dicatat
dalam hazard log.
Semua kejadian dan near misses harus dicatat dalam hazard log.

6.Pemegang jabatan harus selalu mematuhi persyaratan MT. SC 3 untuk minimum


Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

7.Semua crew harus berpartisipasi aktif dalam program MT. SC 3's Health and Safety
Management and Environmental Protection.

8.Semua crew harus berpartisipasi dalam pengujian pengoperasian emergency steering


gear kapal bilamana diperintahkan oleh Kapten.

Otoritas:
Pemgang jabatan memiliki authoritas untuk melakukan tindakan dini, mengidentifikasi
dan mencatan permasalahan, menyarankan dan melaksanakan pemecahan untuk
memastikan non-conformities telah diperbaiki.
