Chapter 1: What is the VMCE?
The Veeam Certified Engineer (VMCE) certification is a vendor certification program
designed and maintained by Veeam which enables you with a high level of expertise to
correctly deploy, configure and administer Veeam® Availability Suite™ V9.5. If you are
looking to increase your productivity, propel your personal career advancement and achieve
industry recognition then the VMCE is a great investment to make.

Veeam targets the following candidates for starting their VMCE certification journey:

• System Engineer / Administrator

• Backup / Virtualization Administrators
• Pre-Sales / Post-Sales / Solution Architects / Consultants

In any sense, if you’re keen and eager to become an industry recognized expert on Veeam
software solutions, you should consider becoming a VMCE regardless of your current role.
At the very least, by attending the course you will gain valuable technical knowledge on a
world class availability solution that is becoming the de facto gold standard for both large
enterprise and SMB markets.

The VMCE certification consists of two components

● The VMCE course which is a technical deep-dive providing extensive information on

Veeam solutions.
● The exam component, consisting of 50 multiple choice questions. These two topics
will be covered in greater detail throughout this book.

Once you have gained your VMCE, the certification is valid for 2 major updates. For example
Veeam Certified Engineers who gained their credentials at v8, will need to renew at v10.

5
Chapter 2: What are the benefits of the VMCE
What are some of the benefits for attaining your VMCE? First, you receive recognition. As a
popular availability/backup solution, the demand for skilled Veeam Administrators in the
workplace is growing. Job recruiters are not only looking for VMware vSphere and Microsoft
Hyper-V skills but knowledge around the availability solution that protects these very
environments. The ability to list VMCE in your resume is fast becoming a desired attribute to
help you to stand out from the crowd.

One of the most useful benefits for any engineer is the ‘Jump the Queue’ reward provided to
VMCEs, also referred to by Veeam as the "No queue for you" support number. The ‘Jump
the Queue’ support number can be used anytime you need to phone Veeam support. When
you need to call your local support number, you dial using your local support phone number
listed on Veeam’s website, then instead of listening to the options, you dial the ‘jump the
queue’ extension to be placed at the front of the line. For those curious, you’re listed as
‘high-priority’ on their phone system when a caller uses this particular phone extension.

You gain access to Not For Resale (NFR) keys for the Veeam Availability Suite to be used in
non-production scenarios. These NFR keys are only available for vExpert, VCP, VCAP, VCI,
VCDX, VMUG Leader, VTEC, VMCE, Microsoft MVP, MCSE, MCSA, MCT, Cisco Champion
and other certified professionals. Students without an academic email address will need to
contact Veeam to request an NFR license.

A significant benefit for Veeam resellers is that obtaining your VMCE contributes to the
Veeam ProPartner Program prerequisites. The Veeam ProPartner Program helps partners
expand their reach in the market by giving access to the tools and resources necessary to
differentiate their business so they may become more efficient.

For example, one of the requirements for Veeam ProPartner Platinum level is to maintain 2
Accredited Engineers (VMCE certification) within the organisation.

For those interested in attaining the Veeam Certified Architect certification, passing the
VMCE is a prerequisite. The VMCE-ADO is covered in greater detail in chapter 09.

If you reside within the United States you can also receive a welcome pack that includes a
VMCE shirt.

Another nice benefit is the VMCE logos that are provided after becoming a VMCE. These
are quite popular for blogs and email signatures. For any redditors reading this, there is also
a flair available on the Veeam subreddit /r/Veeam. Just ask one of the /r/Veeam moderators
and they will add the flair to your username.

Other benefits the VMCE can provide are:

● Increase your hourly billable rate for VMCE certified engineers as they will be known
as Veeam experts in the field.
● Gain a greater understanding of your client's environments by planning a modern
approach to availability with Veeam.
● Expand your opportunities including Veeam as a cornerstone Availability for the
modern Data Center.

6
● Upsell and cross sell more modern data center products by architecturing a true,
comprehensive availability solution.
● Create an availability practice for the modern data center by providing architecture
and design as well as integration. Configuration and optimization of Veeam solutions
● Move up-market and sell into larger enterprise customers.
● Access to the VMCE portal, which includes a wealth of information targeted to
Veeam Certified Engineers, as well as a way to communicate with other Veeam
Certified Engineers

7
Chapter 3: What is the VMCE course?
The VMCE course is run by selected training partners from around the globe. Veeam
maintains a list of these partners here; https://www.veeam.com/vmce-education-centers.html

You have the option of choosing between an instructor-led 3 day training in a classroom or
online setting OR Video On-Demand Learning where you can go at your own pace (at the
time of writing, VODL is not not available in all regions). In either case you have access to
the same course, materials and remote labs as if you were attending in person.

The course consists of the following three books:

● VMCE Textbook - A 250+ page book covering the technical aspects of deployments,
initial configuration, protection, VM recovery, object recovery, verification, agents,
advanced data protection, Veeam ONE, product editions and troubleshooting.
● VMCE Practice Labs - During the VMCE course, you will be given access to a lab
with a number of template VMs. This book contains the information necessary to
become acquainted with the labs and provides the task information that you will be
following
● VMCE Handouts - The VMCE handout book contains every slide shown during the
course along with a comments section so you can write your own notes next to any
slides displayed.

In some instances, training partners may provide the option of a printed book in addition to
the e-books. E-books are constantly updated by Veeam which are provided for free to VMCE
students. Email notifications are provided by Veeam when a new update is available.
Therefore, it is recommended you use your e-books to keep up to date and for studying.

Although your trainer will cover as much as they can in your 3 day training, it is important to
know that Veeam is an extensive product and has many features that cannot be covered in 3
days. Therefore, it is important to try and read your textbook to prepare for your exam.
A strong suggestion is to try and read the below modules twice over:
● Module 2: Deployment
● Module 4: Protect
● Module 9: Advanced Data Protection
These are your largest three modules and covers primary concepts that will help you learn
throughout the book. For example: Module 2 introduces Off-Host Proxy, Module 4 explains
how concepts such as the VSS writer, CBT driver and other components work and Module 9
explains the configuration.

As mentioned above, the book is over 250 pages. At the time of writing this book, Modules
2,4 and 9 make up 132 of these pages. Although we will strongly recommend that you
read the entire book, revising the mentioned modules twice over will be quite beneficial due
to the majority of subjects covered and capabilities to miss things in the first or second read.

Another important suggestion is to not discount the importance of your lab guide and lab
work. Apart from applying knowledge you may not have access to in your daily life, the lab
guide does an excellent job of pointing out initial configurations that you may have not done
previously. This is particularly good for people who prefer a practical learning approach.

8
Chapter 4: What is the VMCE exam?
The VMCE exam is run by an external partner called Pearson. To attend any exam you will
need to schedule it first either through the Pearson website or by calling a Pearson VUE call
center agent.

To book online go to the following website; https://www.veeam.com/vmce-apply.html

The exam itself consists of 50 multiple-choice questions with a required pass mark of 70%.

Approximately 60 minutes is provided to complete the VMCE exam, the exam is only offered
in english but if you’re taking the exam in a non-english speaking country you’ll get an extra
30 minutes automatically added to complete the exam. Pearson may include a short survey
which doesn’t count against the time provided for the exam.

Multiple-choice questions consist of a question and several alternative answers, among

which is the correct answer or answers and one or more incorrect answers. The incorrect
answers can be designed to distract the candidate from the correct answer. A correct
answer will earn a set number of points toward the total mark, while any incorrect answer will
not earn any points.

An example multiple-choice question is shown below,

The best way to get accustomed to the type of questions you can expect in the VMCE exam
is by testing yourself with VMCE practice exams which are available online. For more details
on the VMCE practice exams available, go to Chapter 9.

The exam does change with minor software revisions, i.e v9 is slightly different to v9.5,
which is slightly different to v9.5 update 3 exam. Passing any of these will grant the VMCE
v9 certification. It is a good idea to check which version of the exam you will be sitting, to
avoid confusion around newly introduced features.

9
Exam Retake Policy
If you don't pass on your first time, don't get discouraged as you can take this as a learning
experience and be successful the next time. So you can best plan for your next attempt
you’ll need to know the following,

● If a candidate does not achieve a passing score on an exam the first time, the
candidate must wait at least 24 hours before retaking the exam.
● If a candidate does not achieve a passing score the second time, the candidate
must wait at least 14 days before retaking the exam a third time.
● A 14-day waiting period is also imposed for the fourth and fifth subsequent exam
retakes.

A candidate may not take a given exam any more than five times per year (12 months).
This 12-month period starts the day of the fifth unsuccessful exam retake. The candidate is
then eligible to retake the exam 12 months from that date. To take a given exam more than
five times per year, a candidate must submit a request and obtain prior permission from
Veeam VMCE Security Team – VMCE.Fraud@veeam.com – for each additional attempt.

10
Chapter 5: What don’t you need to study?
One big piece of advice is that if it’s not mentioned in the textbook, slides or the lab then it
won’t be a question in the exam, while helpful to review all the courseware provided, the
textbook will provide the most help.

Passing exams can be a difficult task. Like many things in life, preparation and practice is
key for any successful outcome. You may consider taking a shortcut such as using brain
dumps. This path is especially appealing for those that don’t have spare time to dedicate for
studying but heed these warnings:

● Many of these brain dumps claim to contain the real exam questions and answers but
due to the fast changing environment of certification programs these questions and
answers are often misleading, incorrect or out of date.

● Using brain dumps to prepare for or during an exam constitutes cheating. If Veeam,
its distributors or any of the testing centers catch you cheating then you will be
permanently banned or prohibited from taking any future Veeam Certification exams
and may be decertified from the accreditation. In addition, test scores and
certifications may be revoked if applicable.

● If you knowingly or unknowingly memorize unauthorized content found in “brain

dumps” in order to pass an exam, it’s clear that you will not have the requisite skills to
effectively use, deploy and manage Veeam software, platforms and systems.
Eventually, your manager or customers will identify this lack of technical knowledge
and skill and take appropriate action.

If you think you have discovered a “brain dump” site with Veeam content, please inform
Veeam by sending an email message to VMCE.Fraud@Veeam.com.

11
Chapter 6: What should you study?
The courseware that is provided during the 3-day course should be your number one priority
when studying for the exam. Read the courseware, read it back to front, twice. Use the
Veeam practice labs while you have access to them. Some training centers can arrange 180
day access rental kits, ensure that you finish any incomplete labs from the course.

It’s beneficial to cover the “What’s New” PDFs that Veeam release.
.

As a first step, Veeam provides partners and end-users with entry-level online free technical
courses available on www.veeam.com:

● Through Propartner Portal for Veeam resellers

● Through Veeam University for Veeam end users

Veeam IQ
Formerly known as Veeam University, Veeam IQ is Veeams partner accreditation program in
the form of online training materials and examinations. Veeam ProPartners have the
opportunity to become accredited with Technical Sales and pure Sales titles. Accreditation
titles include Veeam Technical Sales Professional (VMTSP) and Veeam Sales Professional
(VMSP).

The VMTSP and VMSP are great starting points before you tackle the VMCE, even if you
skip these online certificates, there is over 35+ training modules to help you learn more
about Veeam products.

13
Chapter 7: Module Guide
Tips for reading this chapter:

When you see Key Learning Goals/Outcome:

“Key Learning Goals” is a guide to assist you in understanding the module.
For example, if the first point is “Know how to switch on a computer”, you should be able to
recall that you need to press the POWER button. To build that knowledge, you can add
points such as
● Make sure the machine is plugged in
● Ensure that you have permission to switch the computer on
● Move the mouse to confirm the machine is not in sleep mode etc

When you see Key Terms:

This KEY TERMS is to help you build knowledge on the Key Learning Goals/Outcome. By
being able to define the below key terms, it will help you build your knowledge. The key
terms have checkboxes that can be ticked when you are confidently able to define it. Even a
short 2-3 lines might help! More lines are always better.

For example: If you see the term “Book”, you may be able to define it as “an object that
contains information pertaining to a subject. The book is available is hard copy as well as
E-book. The book has x amount of pages.” Additional definition points you could add to
strengthen your definition can be:

● This book is about the VMCE Course.

● Only the authorized holder should have access to this book and it should not be
copied or shared with other participants.
● To acquire this book, the holder needs to either attend an online class or instructor
led class.

It is suggested to practice the 5 Ws when attempting to define KEY TERMS: Who, What,
Where, When and Why.

When you see Learning Suggestions:

This is tips practiced by multiple students. These tips are designed to make understanding
certain complicated parts in an easier manner.

When you see Concept Check:

Although this is an exam guide, we believe that understanding is beyond just passing an
exam. The concept guide is developed to be easy for all to understand AND a basic idea of
practical use. Some might come across as basic and really easy but this was done to ensure
understanding across all levels and experiences.

When you see Practice Test:

These tests are designed exactly out of your textbook and will not have any questions from
your exam. This is just a guide to help you test your knowledge. The solutions to these can
be found in chapter 10.

14

mark matters.
2. The module is only 5 pages. Please read it. However, if you need to view the add-ons
in a table, something similar to the below might help:

Please note that this is just an example and is incomplete. You will need to create your own table.

Concept Check

Using the knowledge gained, see if you can apply it to the below:

15
1. You need to monitor an environment that uses Veeam. The client uses System
Center Operations Manager. You can implement ________.

________________________________________________________________

16
Study Guide - Module 2: Deployment
This Module provides an overview of core and optional components and the parts they play
in their interactions in the Veeam Backup and Replication infrastructure.

Key Learning Goals/Outcome:

To understand Module 2, below are the learning goals you need to set.
● Identify and define the core components
● Differentiate between Core and Optional components
● Know the interaction differences of components between each platform (Example:
Proxy methodology between Hyper-V and VMware)
● Know the services related to each component
● Understand which transport modes Veeam uses in a VMware environment, their
features and limitations
● Define Repository types
● Deployment Scenarios
● Pre-requisites
● Upgrade plan

Key Terms:
To understand Module 2, below are the key terms you need to understand
● Backup Proxy (VMware)
● Backup Server
● Backup Repository
● Gateway Server
● Direct Storage Access
● Virtual Appliance Mode
● Network Mode
● On-Host Backup Mode (Hyper-V)
● Off-Host Backup Mode (Hyper-V)
● Fast Clone
● Off Site backup
● Scale-Out Backup repository
● Mount Server
● Proxy Affinity
● Veeam Backup Enterprise Manager
● U-Air Wizard
● Simple Deployment
● Advanced Deployment
● Distributed Deployment
● Distributed architecture
● Parallel Processing

Learning Suggestions:
1. Since the Pre-requisites and System requirements (Section 2.4) span just over 15
pages, re-create the table in Excel but place a higher and lower. That way you know
anything that falls over/under is not covered. An example as per below compared
with pages 54-55 in your textbook:

17
Please note, we strongly suggest the above as an example that provides easier retention. The textbook
provided during your course expands on the requirements and should always be used as a primary source
of information to prepare for the exam.
2. Make sure you are aware of the difference in platforms. For example: Where would
you set the transport mode for VMware vs. the host mode for Hyper-V. If you are not
fluent with a certain platform or have never had experience, a good suggestion would
be to review the index pages in the VMware User Guide and the Hyper-V guide. Both
of these are available online. This will allow you to gain a basic understanding of
what is possible between the platforms and is a method applicable through all
modules.
3. If a long process is required, phase it out. For example, below is an the upgrade
process:
Phase 1: Compliance
- Upgrade Veeam One for compliance reports.
- Upgrade from 8.0 U3 or 9.0
- Supported OS version.
- If you are using Cloud Connect, confirm the SP has the matching version.
Phase 2: Preparation
- Disable any running jobs.
- Backup your Configs used by Backup and Enterprise manager servers
- Upgrade Veeam Backup Enterprise manager
Phase 3: Upgrade
- Upgrade and install latest update
- Open the VBR console and follow the wizard.
- Use “Upgrade wizard” later if required from the Main Menu.
- Enable jobs.
4. If phases are hard, apply a more basic operation but replace words. Remembering
transport modes and the process of data retrieval can be hard. Especially if you do
not use a certain mode. For example, Direct SAN. I would try to apply this to a more
basic operation in life - such as university assignment. You are the ESXi host and the
Backup proxy is the professor
i. Professor Backup Proxy has requested you, the ESXi host, to complete a
research on IPhones.
In this example, the iPhones is a substitute for a VM.
ii. You will attempt to gain as much information as you can about iPhones or in
other words:
The ESXi will locate the VM

18
iii. You will gather the data using documentation tools and compile the data in
the required research format.
Veeam Backup will trigger a VM Snapshot and the ESXi will retrieve metadata
about the layout of the VM Disks on the storage
iv. Once the report has been completed, you send the information to your
professor.
ESXi sends metadata to the backup proxy
v. Your professor will upload your research to the University portal.
The backup proxy uses metadata to copy VM data blocks directly from the
source storage over the SAN and then processes the copied data blocks and
sends them to the target.

Concept Check
Using the knowledge gained, see if you can apply it to the below:

1. Sam uses Veeam Backup Enterprise Manager (VBEM) to gain an overview of his
geographically dispersed environment. There are 12 Veeam Backup servers and
they are all visible on VBEM. This would indicate that Sam’s environment is an
example of a _________ scenario.
2. Jesse has a Hyper-V environment but has critical servers sitting on the Host A. Jesse
needs to be able to backup the VMs sitting on Host A, but since it is busy processing
the existing VMs, Jesse can use the ______ proxy method.
3. Wendy wants to install a WAN Accelerator in her environment, she should ensure
that the OS is ___ bit version.

Practice Test:
Which of the below is NOT a repository option on the Veeam interface:
A. Windows server with local or directly attached storage
B. Linux server with local, directly attached storage or mounted NFS
C. CIFS (SMB) share
D. Deduplicating storage appliance
E. Datastore

The Virtual Appliance mode is also known as:

A. Hot- Add
B. VMware Appliance
C. Snapshot mode
D. Appliance Mode

19
Study Guide - Module 3: Initial Configuration
Module 3: Overview
This module outlines the configuration of your backup components and initial setup.

Key Learning Goals/Outcome:

To understand Module 3, below are the learning goals you need to set.
● Which server types can be used as a Source, replication target, backup proxy and
backup repository.
● How Data Location Tagging works and its various concepts.
● What is a Backup configuration and the difference between Restore and Migrate
● The Network Traffic options available within Veeam
● General Options that can be applied for all jobs and some exceptions based on
licensing.
● The User Interface, where can you find certain settings. For example, if I wanted to
set up a new backup proxy - where would I set it up and which view would I use.
This would be a good opportunity to make use of your lab environments and try to memorise where each view is
located and if you need to go through the Main menu, Navigation pane, global settings, etc.

Key Terms:
To understand Module 3 below are the key terms you need to understand
● Data Location Tagging
● Locations
● Configuration Backup
● Restoring Configuration Data
● Migrating Configuration Data
● Network Traffic Throttling Rules
● Data Transfer Connections
● Preferred Networks
● Network Traffic Encryption
● CRC Check
● Backup I/O Control
● Main menu
● Navigation Pane
● Views
● Working Area

Learning Suggestions:
1. Start the module off with asking yourself: “What are the components required to build
a backup infrastructure?” We haven’t started jobs yet so only think of the components
mentioned in the previous module. Try to apply this question to your environment to
get a better understanding. For example: How many Backup proxies do you have?
Are any of them used as a repository as well?
2. This module is easy and small. Approach it with the knowledge that you can handle
16 pages with no difficulty.
3. If you work for an organization that is not governed by GDPR requirements or has no
need for location tagging, please make sure you follow the example in your lab guide.
Think of the different components (Locations, Assigning location, editing, what they
apply to) required to setup location tagging. Now combine them and acknowledge
how they work together.

20
4. Configuration Backup and Restore. The training should have implied the importance
of the Configuration Backup - essentially a backup of your backup environment.
5. Know the difference between a Global setting and which options are not.

Concept Check
Using the knowledge gained, see if you can apply it to the below:

1. Lochness Inc has 3 offices with 50 VMs per site. They are in a country that is not
required to follow GDPR but need to know if one of the 50 VM’s are restored or
replicated in any of the locations they are not part of. In order to do this they can use
_______.
2. B.L. Brian got into work and realised that their physical backup server blew up
overnight. Fortunately, he used a File copy job to copy the ____ to another location.
Using this file that comes under the extension ___, he can _____ the configuration to
a new backup server.
3. Tim maintains a small environment and wants to receive an alert when his backup
storage is running low on space. Tim can setup notifications which can be found by
accessing ____ Options and selecting the ____ tab

Practice Test:
Preferred network rules does NOT apply to:
A. Backup proxies
B. Log Shipping Servers
C. Repositories
D. Guest interaction proxy

The Storage Infrastructure view displays a list of storage systems and:

A. Tape libraries
B. Backup infrastructure components
C. Volumes and snapshots
D. Virtual Machines

Preferred Networks can be helpful when VM data needs to travel over a non-production
network
A. True
B. False

● Transformation: How to set it up and how it works.
● Retention policy for deleted VMs.
Try to remember the default settings and where this can be setup.
● Understand CBT and how it works for VMware and Hyper-V.
It would be a very good idea to also know what happens when VMWare CBT or RCT is not available.
● Understand compression and the various levels.
● Know the difference between how GFS retention policies work and how simple
retention policies works.
● Understand deduplication and the various options.
● Understand how Zeroing out dirty blocks works.

● GFS
● Replication
● Remote replica from backup
● Replica seeding
● Replica mapping
● VM Copy Job
● File Copy Jobs

Learning Suggestions:
This module is a true test to anyone coming from other backup solutions. The best
suggestion is to go in with a clear mind or as they say in latin Tabula Rasa ( Clean Slate). If
you are someone that needs to work with mixed solutions and cannot afford to have a clean
mind, it is advisable that you create a cheat sheet with your backup solutions and their
naming conventions.
● This module is complex and large. Approach it with the understanding that you
should read this module a few times to understand how it works.
● There are multiple methods to achieve 3-2-1, review how Veeam can create multiple
copies of backups to ensure recoverability even in the case of disaster. To get an
animation of how Backup Copy Job Retention policies work with GFS, please refer to
Veeam KB1931)

23
● Understand how Veeam handles retention for the different backup methods
● Reverse incrementals can confuse a lot of students and be considered as a thing that
is hard to get your head around. Here are some key things that can make it a little
easier.
○ Your latest backup is ALWAYS a full backup.
○ There are 2 formats you will see in this backup chain. .VRB signifies an
incremental file and .VBK signifies a full backup. Expect to see a chain similar
to .vrb -> .vrb -> .vrb -> .VBK
○ Look at the animation on KB1933.
● Use your handout textbook. If you sat the course, your handouts (Page 21-22) give
you a table comparison of iOPS and the differences between each backup method.

● Do not confuse backup copy jobs (BCJ) and replicas. A backup copy is a copy of an
existing backup and a replica is a mirrored image of an existing VM. Backup copy
requires restoration and power on, where as a replica can simply be powered on.
● Retention policy can be seen on KB1932 and KB1933 . Please do not forget to also
check information on the Retention Policy for Deleted VMs.
● Changed Block Tracking (CBT) is a key feature of Veeam backups. Although you
need to know the 5 W’s, below are some suggested approaches
○ Know the difference between VMware and Hyper-V CBT.
○ Know the versions required to allow native CBT to function.
○ In the event that native CBT is unavailable, remember that Veeam’s
proprietary CBT takes place. Know how it is installed and how it works.
○ Identify and know how what CTP files do.
○ In event of CBT errors, how to reset your CBT.
● Data compression is more than just Deduplication and compression. As important as
it is to know what they are and the different levels/options, please do not ignore the
Zeroing Out Dirty Blocks.
● Guest interaction proxy actually spreads beyond this chapter. In fact, if you study
your book right. You will come across it in Module 11!
● Replication jobs have multiple components that are available. It requires:
○ A full VM replica which is the original VM configuration files and virtual disks.
○ Replica restore points
○ Metadata in Veeam’s format of .vbm.

Concept Check
Using the knowledge gained, see if you can apply it to the below:
1. When using file copy jobs to a destination managed by VBR, _______________ can
be used to minimise network bandwidth and improve performance of file copy
activities.
2. Strange Inc is backing up their Citrix environments. They’ve noticed that items in the
Recycle bin get backed up as well. To avoid backing up their deleted items, Strange
Inc can _____.
3. ForgetMeNot Corp frequently need to restore files, the restore requests are
commonly for data backed up in the last few restore points and it’s very rare for a
restore request for older data to come through. The best backup methods would be
____.
4. Tanos has noticed a strange message when attempting backups. The message is
MadTitan has stuck VM snapshot, will attempt to consolidate periodically. This
message is related to the processing in ____.

24
Practice Test:
Your organisation wants to protect virtual machines with a retention requirement of 12 days,
the RTO is 1 hours and they want the restore points to be portable and compressed. What
job do you create?
a. Replication Job
b. Backup Job
c. SureBackup Job
d. FIle Copy Job

Which of the below is NOT performed by the Guest OS Interaction?

a. Application aware processing
b. Guest file system indexing
c. Transaction logs processing
d. Snapshot creation

With VeeamZIP, you can specify Encryption and compression levels different from the
original job
a. True
b. False

In the event of slow network connection, replication can be done:

a. Direct
b. Through proxies
c. Through metadata caches
d. Through built in WAN accelerators

Which of the below describes “Replica Seeding”

a. A replica is created in small portions from the original VM to deal with network
connectivity issues.
b. A backup is placed in the Replica location, rescanned and only differences between
the backup and original are transferred
c. A template is created in the Replica zone and changes are transferred from the
original.
d. Backups take place in two repositories at the same time in the same job. When
Replica Seeding is activated, the backup is restored and now acts as a replica.

25
Study Guide - Module 5: Entire VM Recovery
Module 5: Overview
This module provides an overview of the various recovery methods for VMs and a deeper
dive into Replica activities.

Key Learning Goals/Outcome:

To understand Module 5, below are the learning goals you need to set.

● Understand the different types of recovery options from a backup and when to use
which recovery option
● The key differences between Instant and Full VM Recovery.
● Know the difference between VM File level recovery and Virtual Disk recovery
The differences are available on your handout book and was presented in your 3 day class.
● Restoration to Microsoft Azure and its limitations.
● Difference between Azure Window machines and Linux machine restoration
● Know what the extract utility can be used for.
● Recovering from Replica and learning the differences between performing a failover,
a failback and undo failover.
● Understand the differences between committing a failback vs undo failback.
● Understanding the Planned Failover concept.

Key Terms:
To understand Module 5, below are the key terms you need to understand
● Instant VM Recovery
● Full VM Recovery
● Incremental Restore
● VM File Recovery
○ Windows File-Level Recovery
○ Multi-OS File-Level Recovery
● Restore to Microsoft Azure
● Extract Utility
● Failover
● Failback
● Failover Plan
● Planned Failover

Learning Suggestions:
This module is one of the more interesting topics covered in the VMCE, not only are the
different recovery methods detailed but the simplicity of how Veeam enables recovery is
highlighted. For anyone dealing with backups and restorations, the technology and process
of restoration can tell you a lot about a backup solution and since Veeam is so smooth and
easy, most of it will seem very straight forward to complete. But, why would you use Full VM
over Instant VM Restore? What is the difference between failback and failover? This module
highlights that journey.
● Before we break in to the options, it is important to highlight the key features of this
module in the interface. This is the below screen for restoring a VM from BACKUPS.
Bear in mind, there is a different screen for replicas which we will get to shortly.

26
● Your book already gives you a good idea of when to use each scenario (There is a
table on the first page of the module indicating the scenario and purpose). What we
hope to achieve from the study guide is to be able to point out the difference in
workflow and platform (VMware vs. Hyper-V).
● Another table to help you understand! Again - please complete the table, this is just
an example and by creating a table to your understanding you will learn better.

Things to guide you. Again, please add as much as you think might help you:
● Downtime requirements due to production migrate process.
● Alias. For example: Full VM is known as Entire VM. Incremental Restore is
known as Quick Rollback.
● Remember your limitations of Microsoft Azure including the region limitations. The
idea of this study guide is also to enlighten you on how the components fit together.
One scenario you can choose a method of alert to work with is the Locations alert
and notifications you studied in Module 3. Try to combine all these components
together so they do not get forgotten easily.
● The extract utility is easily a feature to promote in terms of continuation. If you are
proposing Veeam to a client, business tender or any other solution, the extract utility
can be used independent of Veeam Backup and Replication. So basically, if the
client decides 10 years later they would like a different backup solution, they can still
restore their Veeam backups instead of performing manual transfers.
● When it comes to replica failovers, remember that this is also a 2 step process. The
first is Failing over, the second is choosing what needs to be done in the scenario.
But from a workflow perspective, choosing what you need to do with the redo logs. It
can’t be explained better than the book (tables on Pages 133 and 134) but perhaps if
you’d like to make it easier, a suggestion of whiteboard can help.Below is a good

27
starting template. You can add a Step 3 and so on to identify actions performed after
a Permanent failover, failback and undo a failover:

Concept Check
Using the knowledge gained, see if you can apply it to the below:
1. A production VM has failed and Sussane needs to immediately recover it from a
backup so she uses _________ to recover the VM.
2. Joe wants to to finalise the failover of VMs running at the DR site so he ________ the
failover.
3. Geoff wants to restore a VM to Azure, he uses ______________ to achieve this.

Practice Test:
What does Veeam use when performing an Instant VM Recovery
a. Veeam vPower
b. SureReplica
c. CBT
d. 1-Click failover

What options are available after performing a failover

a. Discard failover, undo failback or permanent failover
b. Discard failover, failback or permanent failover
c. Undo failover, failback or permanent failover
d. Undo failover, discard failback or permanent failover

True or False; When using Instant VM Recovery with VMware the auxiliary redo logs are
stored on the NFS server?
a. True
b. False

28
Study Guide - Module 6: Objects Recovery
Module 6: Overview
This module provides an overview of the various explorers and methods used to recover
objects in your infrastructure.

Key Learning Goals/Outcome:

To understand Module 6, below are the learning goals you need to set.
● The various Veeam Explorers available within Veeam Backup and Replication.
● Difference between each Veeam licensed edition’s ability with Veeam Explorers
(Standard, Enterprise,Enterprise Plus) .
● Databases and components required for each application to allow restoration.
● Know the importance of your transaction logging for item level restorations.
● Supported application versions that can be used with Veeam Explorers.
● User rights required to allow backing up and restoration.
● Detailed understanding of U-Air and the different workflows.
● Restoration of guest OS files.

Key Terms:
To understand Module 6, below are the key terms you need to understand
● Veeam Explorer for Microsoft Exchange
● Veeam Explorer for Microsoft SharePoint
● Veeam Explorer for Microsoft Active Directory
● Veeam Explorer for Microsoft SQL Server
● SQL Server Logs Backup and Restore
● Veeam Explorer for Oracle
● Oracle Log Backups and Restore
● Universal Application-Item Recovery (U-AIR)
● Windows File-Level Recovery
● Multi-OS File-Level Recovery
● File-Level Recovery for Any File System

Learning Suggestions:
This module is a very familiar ground for those who have come from other backup
technologies. Although technologies differ, we can all appreciate as engineers the regularity
of having to restore files and folders. On that note, it is important to understand the workflow!

● Understand the workflow of a restoration (Source: Best practices). Now although the
below is for file level restore. It gives you a good idea of how you can expect most
restores to work:

For database based restores, the below illustration describes the workflow that
Veeam follows

29
● The editions comparison will be your best friend when trying to understand which
editions allow certain abilities and what those abilities are. For example:

● Although we still strongly recommend you read your VMCE courseware books
(Textbook, Handbook) and follow your labs. Sometimes, if you are seeking for a
better explanation or a better presentation of information, it doesn’t hurt to look at the
userguide. This is particularly useful for looking at the application version supports.
Like below:

30
● If you have made it this far, and enjoy the idea of a table comparison. Try creating
your own table similar to below. Please note, this is neither complete nor a 100% of
requirements that need to be set. This is just an example:

● It’s recommended that you spend time reading the section in your VMCE handouts
specifically for this module. The slides detail the minimum specs and capabilities
which is important to understand. Such as Table level vs. Database level restore.
● It’s strongly recommended that you read the courseware books to learn how U-AIR
works but here is a nutshell view of what U-Air workflows are:
○ Typical: 2 parties usually involved. The 1st for requesting and restoration, the
2nd is the Veeam backup admin who approves the requests and creates the
lab and backup components to grant access to the 1st person.
○ Simplified: This is probably more common in many work environments and
only requires one person. The person who needs to perform the restore is the
same person who handles the Veeam component processing.
● Guest OS files. From section 6.3.2 onwards you will see many workflows and
processes of how the file level recovery takes place. From your guest OS, to multi
and any file system. If it seems like there are far too many words, try drawing out the
process to make things easier. Use some of the Veeam stencils if you’d like!

Concept Check
1. BabyShark Inc has an Exchange 2007 environment and needs to perform a restore.
Since they cannot use the explorer as it is not supported, they will be able to use the
____ functionality.
2. DooDooDoo corp is needs to restore a Linux file. They can use the ____ file level
recovery
3. ReadTheFirstWords Inc needs to restore an Oracle database. To do this, they need
to ensure that they have with an ____ or ___ licence

31
Practice Test:
Which of the below is NOT an explorer
a. Sharepoint Explorer
b. Linux Explorer
c. Active Directory Explorer
d. Exchange Explorer
Which of the below explorers require FILESTREAM to be enabled on a staging server?
a. Oracle
b. Exchange
c. SQL
d. Multi-OS
To read Active Directory objects, Veeam backup and replication extracts the:
a. MDF
b. ODB
c. EDB
d. DIT

32
Study Guide - Module 7: Verification
Module 7: Overview
This module provides an overview of the SureBackup and SureReplica feature in Veeam
Backup and Replication.

Key Learning Goals/Outcome:

To understand Module 7, below are the learning goals you need to set.
● Be able to know the licenses that allow SureBackup and SureReplica features.
● Other use cases for SureBackup and Replica beyond verification of backups and
replicas.
● Work around for licenses restrictive of SureBackup and SureReplica.
● The difference in how SureBackup works for VMWare and Hyper-V.
Remember that SureBackup is based on Instant VM Recovery Technology.
● The importance of Veeam vPower NFS Service and which features use it.
● Recovery Verification tests and the order they follow.
Also a good place to test your knowledge on script additions.
● Understand Application groups, Virtual Labs and SureBackup Jobs.
● Knowing the components and features of a Virtual Lab.
● Understanding the Virtual Lab configurations and their limitations.
● The process involved in a SureBackup Job
This refers to the process that takes place when the Job runs and is very different from anything mentioned above
● The process of Manual Recovery Verification
● Limitations that prohibit SureReplica from running.
.

Key Terms:
To understand Module 7, below are the key terms you need to understand
● SureBackup
● Veeam vPower NFS Service
● Heartbeat test
● Ping test
● Application test
● Backup file validation
● Application Group
● Virtual Lab
● Proxy Appliance
● IP Masquerading
● Static IP Mapping
● Basic Single-Host Virtual Labs
● Advanced Single-Host Virtual Labs
● Advanced Multi-Host Virtual Labs
● Stabilization Algorithm
● SureReplica
● On-Demand Sandbox

Learning Suggestions:
If you can understand how the process of Instant VM Recovery works, this module is quite
easy to absorb. It is quite a favourite feature of most students and if you are keen to
understand the practical side of this module for real life applications, it is strongly urged that
you refer the online User Guides as well.

33
● Know the things required for a SureBackup and the order they are set up in. The
reason it is recommended to know the order in process is because it helps you
acknowledge how the components work and how they fall in place.
● List out the operations that NFS Service allows to complete. If you look through your
handouts, the diagram of how SureBackup works can really help out.
● If you have trouble remembering the steps taken in the recovery verification, think of
when you see an unconscious person. The first thing you do is verify if they are alive
by checking their pulse or in this case, HEARTBEAT. The next thing is, can they
respond to you when you ask if they are okay or they need help, this would be the
PING test. When the VBR server communicates with the required server. Finally we
have our APPLICATION test. This is where ports are probed to verify if the
application is available. Think of your application test as your next action when
attempting to assist the person.
● Always remember that when testing a single application or service, it doesn’t always
mean you simply add only the one server you need to startup. Application
dependencies need to be taken into consideration for any applications and services
running in the isolated environment. The simplest example is Microsoft Exchange
server - if Exchange is powered on in an isolated environment without DNS or
Domain Controller present, the mailbox store will not start. When you create an
application group, you will need to start the surrounding applications that allow it to
function.
● Virtual Labs are very important so it's crucial to remember the components that make
up a Virtual Lab. Such as the proxy appliance, static mapping and IP masquerading.
In the above “Key Terms”, build the 5 W’s (Who, What, When, Why and Where)
when thinking of the proxy appliance.
● For Virtual Lab configurations, remember that two configurations have the word
“SINGLE-HOST”. The below table has some key information but you can always add
more to expand your knowledge based off information from the textbook:

● Sure Job Processing (currently at 7.1.6). When you setup the Surebackup job, it feels
like a few clicks - but in the textbook it displays 18 steps. Now, they are both right
BUT those 18 steps point out things we usually take for granted of the background
operations we usually pay no mind to. Since you are certifying as a Veeam Engineer,
it is important to know these processes. Especially when you need to troubleshoot a
real life problem.
The steps also help gain a better understand on how SureBackup works for those
who set it up the first time and are overwhelmed by its existence. Do I need to modify
the management lab? How does the proxy appliance come in to play and what is its
point? All these are well answered within the steps. We can’t guarantee that you’ll be
an expert in setting it up but the more official resources you read, the clearer it
becomes.
It is also recommended to follow the process in the userguide as the naming
convention makes things easier to understand.
https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backup/vsphere/surebackup_recovery_verificatio
n.html?ver=95u4
● By understanding which VMWare parameters Veeam Backup and Replication needs
to get from the VM, you can easily understand how it works. Note: This is the only
time will we place a fully completed table that requires minimum to no intervention on
34
your part. The reason for this is because, this is not a very easy concept to
understand and the point of this book is to try and make things easier

Once the stabilization point has been reached, tests will be run against the verified
VM (Ping, heartbeat, test scripts).
● Remember that to run SureReplica activities, you need to ensure that the VM being
verified is in normal state.

Concept Check
1. Jason has configured 3 networks in his virtual lab. That means Veeam will add three
network adapters to the ____.
2. Middy wants to provide virtual lab access frequently to a UAT environment. To do
this, Middy can setup _____ in the virtual lab.
3. Green corp has an inhouse built application. This application cannot use any
explorers to restore items. To perform restores, Green corp can use ____

Practice Test:
Which of the below technologies does Veeam backup and replication use to run SureBackup
technologies:
a. Veeam Explorers

● Protection Groups
● Protection Group Types
● Protection Scope
● Discovery and Deployment Options
● Agent Jobs
● Managed by backup server
● Managed by agent
● Workstation mode
● Server mode
● Failover cluster

Learning Suggestions:
Module 8 is another ICM (Install, Configure and Manage) module. If you can break it out by
this process, the module will be a piece of cake!

● Windows Free, Workstation and Server has some differences! Don’t forget to
memorise them.
● Linux Free and Workstation have the same limitations, except for support.
● This is not exam particular but more of a learning suggestion towards real life
implementations. Know the interface difference between the Veeam Backup
Managed deployment and the locally installed version.
● This module is easier to understand right after you read the book and redo the labs. It
allows you to get that extra layer of understanding. For example, the sections “Use
the New Protection Group” or even “Discovery and Deployment Options”, reading a
long process can be daunting. Try setting up these options in a lab environment and
matching it with the textbook process.

36
Concept Check
1. Jason has a remote site and would like to assign a machine in this site to be deploy
the agent package. This machine will be classed as a ____.
2. Tim wants to specify a set of machines that need to be placed under the Protection
Scope. The devices have varying IP addresses and are not attributable to a certain
AD object grouping. Tim can specify a ______ with the required machine’s IPs.
3. Alex wants to enable endpoint protection for his mobile users. Alex will need to use a
___ license.

Practice Test:
Support for Veeam agents integration with Veeam backup and replication started from:
a. 9.5
b. 9.5, Update 2
c. 9.5, Update 3
d. 9.5, Update 4
Which of the below is NOT a type when specifying protection settings
a. Mobile Devices

Learning Suggestions:
This module is your third largest module! Be sure to read this at least twice over. It is very
easy to miss some key features that may appear in your exam.

● Tape is not dead and Tape is a fairly large portion of this module. From how it works,
to each method of restoration, to the infrastructure. Although this module is laid out
fairly well, if it makes things easier, I recommend looking at it from a phase approach.
For example, imagine you are just implementing a tape setup. Using what you read
and practiced in your lab environment, start with naming the components you may
require. Then move on to what kind of media pools are available. As a bonus
knowledge to yourself, think of any custom media pools you may want to create and
how you would set them up. Use the ICM (Install, Configure and Manage) approach
which will help you not only understand but also know how everything falls in place.
● SAN Storage is a pretty good topic and quite easy to memorise. There might be a
few things to memorise, but they are easy enough when you split knowing the
version numbers, their connectivity and the relevant modes required. The table in
Module 09 on your Handouts textbook has a really good chart as well as the
textbook.
● Deduplication systems, if possible create a similar chart to the SAN Storage but the
important thing is knowing which solution allows you to work without a Gateway
server, which solution requires vendor specific licensing, what they are called and
how source vs. target side works.
● Veeam cloud connect has some basic concepts (Failover, hardware plan, licensing,
etc) and infrastructure components. It is also important to know the difference and
responsibilities of the tennant and Service Provider.
● Think of the 5 main uses of Veeam Backup Enterprise Manager (VBEM).

Concept Check
Using the knowledge gained, see if you can apply it to the below:
1. A Veeam Cloud Connect tenant wants to protect against cyber attack, specifically
insider attack. The IT manager decides to pick a Cloud Connect Service Provider that
has enabled _______________ which acts as a recycle bin.
2. By leveraging ____________ with their DataDomain, Welding Securities Ltd can
reduce their network traffic when backing up.

39
3. A method of restoring a VM from tape without using a staging repository is called the
________________________ option.

1. Delta corp is planning on upgrading their resources. To calculate storage costs for
backup infrastructure and how much space is consumed by backup files, they can
use the ____ report.
2. Sean has an environment with over 4,000 VMs. The ___ installation will be better
suited for his environment.
3. Casey wants to classify his infrastructure by their business importance. ____ is
where he would specify their SLA categories.

Practice Test:
41
Veeam ONE only supports VMWare and Veeam environments.
e. True
f. False
Predefined alarms include
a. Instant remediation and fixes without administrator intervention.
b. Single port remote management and monitoring
c. Native Object Container Streaming
d. Extensive knowledge base.
Which of the below is NOT a component of the Veeam ONE deployment setup?
a. Server
b. Web UI
c. Monitor Client
d. Veeam ONE agent

Learning Suggestions:
Based on training experience, not many students have experience with this product or use it
in their environments. Therefore, it is highly recommended that you try to complete this lab
and if your training provider’s labs permit, re-do this model again if you do not have access
to this in your environment.

● Know the classification difference between each component (Veeam ONE, Business
View and reporter). If you are someone who works better with images, the icon of
each component gives a fair understanding.
● Try to remember the main screen when adding servers. The detailed information is
provided in your textbook and should be read but the below screenshot really
encompasses which environments are compatible and gives you a basic memory
trigger.

42
● If you do not have Veeam ONE configured in your environment or are unable to gain
further exposure as labs are not available, please install it on your home labs,
desktops, etc. You may get the unlicensed version which does not include Veeam
backup reporting and other features but even that minimal exploration will help bridge
your knowledge with the information in the book. This is especially recommended for
those who prefer practice over theory.
● Remember which information is presented when servers are added. For example,
when you add the host, how it appears on the side panel, what information is
presented. Now remember that you have a feature of auto discovery (section 10.2.4
in your textbook), Bridge these two aspects as it is part of a module to gain a
thorough understanding.
● Know the difference between the Veeam ONE components (Monitor, reporter and
business view) vs. the installation components (Server, Web UI and the client).
Although questions are multiple choice based, don’t let a question throw you off and
confuse you by assuming one set exists and not the other set.
● Please read through the reports available in your textbook. You are welcome to go
the extra mile and read through user guides but in the end, your textbook and course
material is all you will be examined on.

Learning Suggestions:
It is easy to disregard the module as something quite easy compared to the troubleshooting
regular engineers need to perform in their daily lives. However, it is strongly advised that you
still review this. Below are some tips to make things easier.

● Although you do not need to remember error messages, try to think of some common
issues. Remember to try and use previous models of the course as pointers to help
you remember. For example: Unexpected infrastructure behaviour. Remember how

46
we spoke about components in Module 2? Under provisioning your environment, not
specifying the right information such as a different SQL DB, Incompatible transport
modes selected with current infrastructure are all common causes.
● If you have not already tested this in your class, when reviewing the job session
details, placing the mouse over your “Source” is a good indicator of where there
might be a potential issue!

● Again, please note that you do NOT need to remember KB article numbers.
● Do you know where to find your logs? Do you know how to use the wizard to extract
logs? This is important so you can extract the relevant information when logging a
case. The two methods are:
○ C:/ProgramData/Veeam/...
○ Main Menu> Help> Support information
● Additional Information. Knowing which Resource provides which information can
easily be overlooked. For example, would you look for popular answers in the KB
articles or Online Documentation?
Concept Check
Using the knowledge gained, see if you can apply it to the below:
1. Tony noticed that his backup job is failing. The error he appears to be getting is “NFC
storage connection is unavailable … Failed to create NFC download stream.” _____,
____ and ____ are the main reasons such an error is usually observed.
2. Kara has noticed that one of her jobs are completing with a warning. On observation
of the Job session details, the error is not clear enough to gain more information.
Kara can look for further information in the ____ and check the ____ for further
assistance to troubleshoot her problem.
3. Ben is new to Veeam and is excited by all the updates and information available in
the community. To get the Weekly Community Digest, Ben registers on the _____.

Practice Test:
Free ESXi is supported:

48
Chapter 8: Certification Maintenance
Certification maintenance varies based on your location.

US:
All VMCE certifications must be for the current major release of a product or the one
prior to meet the VMCE Program requirements. The recertification exam for a new
release must be completed within 120 days after every second major new release is
announced. If the VMCE fails to upgrade certification in the allotted 120-day period, the
VMCE will receive an additional 90-day-grace period to retake the VMCE
technical-training course and the VMCE-proctored exam in its entirety. If the VMCE has
not upgraded certification during this grace period, VMCE certification will expire and the
engineer will no longer be eligible to take advantage of VMCE benefits.

EMEA:
All VMCEs are required to keep current knowledge and certification related to Veeam
software. This includes paying recertification every two new major releases.

49
Chapter 9: What’s next
After attaining your VMCE, Veeam will provide you with a electronic version of your VMCE
certificate along with a unique number (looks like VEEAM300XXXXXXX) and your VMCE v9
badge.

You will also receive another unique ID which is to be used in all the certification related
activities is, this ID must be submitted to training and exam providers along with the personal
identification document and is called the Veeam Unique ID.

VMCE-ADO
Once you have completed the VMCE course and thus acquired all the necessary basics
about the Veeam Availability Suite, you are entitled to take the next step. This next step is
the VMCE-Advanced: Design & Optimization course. This course is primarily aimed at
partners, architects and administrations who are confronted with the conception and
implementation of a complete Veeam Availability Suite solution. The objective of the course
is to understand the functionality and system requirements of the solution in detail and to
apply them later in practical design examples. In this course, you will learn in a dynamic
atmosphere which infrastructure information you need to optimally map the requirements of
your backup and recovery concept. In addition, you will learn how to calculate your hardware
and software resource requirements based on this information.

In addition to the design aspects, the course includes other useful modules. These include
topics such as automation, compliance and troubleshooting. Unlike the basic troubleshooting
module in the VMCE course, the VMCE_ADO course offers a deep insight into log analysis
methods. This module teaches the ability to identify and solve problems on your own.

The course offers enough freedom for open discussions between the trainer and all
participants. This knowledge is also conveyed in exciting group work, the results of which
are then discussed down to the smallest detail.

After you have participated in the VMCE-ADO course, you can put your acquired knowledge
to the test in the VMCE-Advanced exam. In this multiple-choice test, the modules for design,
automation, optimization, troubleshooting, etc. discussed in the course are tested.

50
VMCE-ADO from the trainer perspective:

"I love to train the VMCE-ADO course. Why? Because every course is different and definitely
depends on the participants. From a trainer's point of view it is very interesting to listen to
and evaluate the field experiences of the other participants. It's not uncommon for us to drift
away from the Veeam topic and debate other exciting IT trends associated with the backup
solution. The VMCE-ADO course offers us this freedom. It is fun as a trainer to share my
field experience, but I also learn something new with each course. The evaluation of the
design scenarios from my trainer glasses are the highlight. It is simply unbelievable how
much freedom the ingenious Veeam Availability Suite gives us when it comes to design".

- Florian Raack

Veeam Architect

Veeam Certified Architect is the highest level of Veeam technical certifications, this level can
be obtain if you complete both VMCE and VMCE-ADO programs (courses + exams). Once
both are completed you will be granted with the "Veeam Certified Architect" (VMCA) title by
Veeam.

In other words, reaching VMCA status doesn’t require to follow another course or pass
another exam than the VMCE & VMCE-A: Design & Optimization ones

In order to maintain Veeam Certified Architect status, you are required to keep current on
both VMCE and VMCE-A: D&O certifications, by following the certification upgrade paths
provided by Veeam.

VMCA status is a requirement for Platinum Propartners depending on geographies as well

as for applicants to the Veeam Accredited Service Partner Program (VASP):
