Instructions for Selection, Installation and Mounting

The life time of metal hose will increase when following instructions are followed:

1.Select the proper hose type

2.Select the right fittings
3.Do not overbend the hose
4.Do not torque a corrugated metal hose
5.Avoid scratching over rough surface
6.Avoid exposure to weld or grinding splatters

Hose selection
When you select a metal hose the following considerations should be made:

- Pressure capacity:
The pressure capacity of metal hoses decreases at higher temperatures.
- Temperature influence:
Correct the working pressure with the temperature correction factors which are indicated in this
catalog.
- Handling:
Rough handling may require a heavier pressure class hose than the pressure capacity indicates.

Fitting selection
Whenever possible select at least one swivel fittings or a floating flange. This avoids torsions problems
during mounting.

Overbending
Avoid overbending, specially close to the fittings. Install the hose in its most natural position, free of kinds
and sharp bends.

Torsion
Torsion can give dramatic consequences on the life of a corrugated metal hose. Torsion occurs when the
movements are not in the same plane as the fittings. Use two keys when swivel nuts. Note: Stripwound hose
can absorb some torsion.

Scratching
The braiding is the essential part of a hose assembly to withstand the internal pressure. A damaged braid
diminishes the pressure capacity of the assembly and is detrimental to its function.
Splatters
Weld or grind splatters may lead to corrosion of the stainless steel parts. Use a heat proof shield during
welding or grinding in the proximity of metal hoses.

"Hose with overbraid is fitted on either side with fittings of different

specifications to meet specific applications"

This is another facet of the manufacturing process forming part of the regular range of convoluted
stainless steel hoses and braid.

The hose with overbraid is fitted on either side with fittings of different specifications to meet specific
applications required bythe customer.

These types of hoses with End fittings are extensively used in Industry, Thermal plants and Nuclear
projects to name a few.

End fittings are manufactured in special purpose machines like Semi automatic Lathes, C.N.C. Lathes,
Thread chaser etc., from Mild steel, stainless steel and any other material as specified by the customer.

Various Types of End Fittings

For Flexible Corrugated Metal Hose Assemblies

Manufactured from Mild Steel, Stainless Steel, these are secured by argon welding (TIG) on S.S.Hose
depending upon Hose type and service conditions to form a complete Hose Assembly.

Type of End Connections Threaded type BSP, BSPT, NPT, NPTF, METRIC, JIC & other standards.
Flange As per BS, ASA, DIN & other standards.

Madras Hydraulic Hose (P) Ltd was started in 1992 and is a leader in the manufacture of stainless steel
flexible, corrugated hoses, interlock hoses and End fittings.

Our leadership in the field was made possible by years of dedication in producing only the highest quality
stainless steel flexible corrugated hoses.

Our strict quality control guidelines, coupled with modern manufacturing practices, designs from US, and
dedicated team of personnel, assures you the best possible products and technical services.

The Hoses are used for conveying chemicals, chemically corrosive Fluids, Steam, Gases etc., in very
hostile environments. They can also be used in extreme temperature i.e. from cryogenic temperature to
temperature as high as 800 degree C.

These can be used to accommodate lateral and axial movements during operations of machines and can
absorb vibration to a great extent. These hoses depending on the application can also be used instead of
rubber/plastic hoses.
Our manufacturing programme enables us to produce flexible hoses with annular corrugation using
stainless (AISI 304, 316, 316L, 321)welded tubes on special purpose machines, ranging from 1/4" ID to
8" ID. We have installed a highly sophisticated imported Braiding Machine, which can braid single or
double layers of wires, using stainless steel AISI 304 wire. Thus ensuring high and consistent quality.

With a continuous focus on quality and service, coupled with a commitment to meeting changing market
needs, we have earned solid recognition from customers. In the future, we will continue to serve our
customers the world's first-class services.
