Prophet Muhammad (saw) said “Between a believing man and shirk and kufr is
the leaving of salah.”
The purpose of prayer is to strengthen your relation with Allah (swt). Just as the
body requires food and water the soul requires spiritual needs nourished by acts
of worship the most important of which is prayer.
The Prophet (saw) said “The companion of one who remembers Allah (swt) and
one who does not is like that of living and the dead”
Allah’s Messenger (saw) said “When any one of you stands to prayer, he is
communicating with his Lord. So, let him pay attention to how he speaks to
Him.”
Prayer is the second most important pillar of Islam and is the most regular
compulsory action of every Muslim’s life.
In fact, Allah (swt) did not exempt the Muslims from praying even during the
battles.
Allah says in Surah Baqarah verse 238-239,
“Guard strictly your habits of prayers and the middle prayer and stand before
your Lord devotedly obedient. If you fear an enemy pray on foot, or riding.”
Success lies in prayer.
Prophet (saw) said “The first of his deeds for which a man will be called to
account to on the Day of Resurrection will be prayers. If it is found to be perfect,
he will be safe and successful. But if it is defective, he will be unfortunate and a
loser.”
Salah:
Shields against evil
Enriches your soul
Makes you humble
Washes away your sins
Solves your problems
Unites the Muslims
We are being ungrateful. Refusing our Creator’s invitation to establish this close
relationship with Him is the ultimate ingratitude.
The prophet’s (saw) feet would swell because he would stand in the prayer for
lengthy periods.
When asked about this, he replied“Should I not be grateful servant of my Lord?”
Prophet (saw) said “If they knew the merits of the Fajr and Isha prayers, they
would come to the mosque even if they had to crawl”
What excuse for abandoning the prayer do you actually have when you face
you Lord on that difficult day.
May Allah (swt) protect us from the excuses of prayer and made us an
establisher of prayer. Ameen.
