Facebook Tips to upgrade your profile for a job search

It is a growing trend nowadays for employers to cross-check your Facebook profile when you apply
for a job.
If your Facebook profile has unprofessional or objectionable material, you are quite liable to be
rejected even though you might have cleared the interview.
Here are some tips to make sure you are prepared.

1. Update your work history in Facebook.

With each article they post, you get an opportunity to
upgrade your knowledge.
Also, it shows that you are aware of the trend setters in
your field and are keen to keep yourself upto date in
your field.

5. Project a positive image of yourself.


If you are interested in contributing toward ssocial issues, or
like pets, or have a hobby like running or trekking.

6. Abusive towards current/previous employers or colleagues?
You might have had a terrible time at your previous job,
but do not express your anger/unhappiness online.
If you do, future employers & recruiters will avoid you.

7. Avoid violent videos/photos: No employer wants an employee


who might have violent tendencies and be a danger to
his colleagues/clients/vendors.
Please delete if these are there on your wall.

8. No porn/obscene matter: The moment a recruiter or


employer sees porn or any obscene matter, you can forget
about that job you applied for.

Untag yourself from posts your friends might have tagged you on.

9. Politically abusive or racist matter like racist or casteist or


religious abusive language on your wall.
While it is good to have a political opinion, being abusive towards
those with other political/religious beliefs is going to be detrimental
towards your job search

10. Unfriend the “friend” who shows you in a bad light.


If you have friends who post violent or porn content of any
such content, and worse, tag you on those…and if you are
serious about getting a good job in a good organisation,
make sure you unfriend them.
You do not want your career affected by irresponsible posts
from your friends.
