SOLENOID

ENGINE
ABSTRACT:
INTRODUCTION
The solenoid (from the French solenoid, derived in turn from the Greek solen "pipe,
channel" + combining form of Greek eidos "form, form" ) is a coil Wound into a tightly
packed helix. The term was invented by French physicist Andre-Marie Ampere to
designate a helical coil.
In physics, the term refers to a coil whose length is substantially greater than its
diameter, often wrapped around a metallic core, which produces a uniform magnetic field
in a volume of space (where some experiment might be carried out) when an electric
current is Passed through it. A solenoid is a type of electromagnet when the purpose is to
generate a controlled magnetic field. If the purpose of the solenoid is instead to prevent
changes in the electric current, the solenoid may be more specifically classified as an
inductor rather than an electromagnet. Not all electromagnets and inductors are solenoids;
For example, the first electromagnet, invented in 1824, had a horseshoe rather than a
cylindrical solenoid shape.
In engineering, the term may also refer to a variety of transducer devices that convert
energy into linear motion. The term is also used to refer to a solenoid valve, which is an
integrated device containing an electro-mechanical solenoid which actuates either a
pneumatic or hydraulic valve, or a solenoid switch, which is a specific type of relay that
internally uses an electro-mechanical solenoid Operate an Electrical switch; For example,
an automotive starter solenoid, or a linear solenoid, which is an electro-mechanical
solenoid. Solenoid bolts, a type of electronic-mechanical locking mechanism, also exist.

OUR CONCEPT:
To make a working of engine with the help of DC batteries. Its looks like a normal engine
but it doest consits of combustion chamber inside or outside the engine. Its full working with the help
of electric power that we are giving. Its works with the basics parts of “Crank shaft, Connecting rod,
Piston, Cylinder, Cylinder rings”.

WORKING:
Solenoid is the generic term for a coil of wire used as an electromagnet. It also refers
to any device that converts electrical energy to mechanical energy using a solenoid. The device creates
a magnetic field from electric current and uses the magnetic field to create linear motion. By giving
electric current to coil emf is induced in coil so attraction force is created in cylinder so piston moves
upwards to the Top dead centre (TDC) of the cylinder. When we cut electric power to coil. So
attraction power will be reduced due to another piston movement that de-energized thats moves
towards Bottom dead centre(BDC). It's a continuous process of piston movement ups and downs &
energizing and de-energized. Then it can connect with gear boxes. Its look like normal engine working
but here we are using electric power it's a difference.

BLOCK DIAGRAM:
ADVANTAGES:
1. Solenoid works as electromagnet when current supplied to it.
Engine works without fuel so no pollution will produce.
2. Solenoid engine is produce more torque electric motor. So it can
run Easily in off road also.
3. Solenoid engine produce less heat energy will operating then the
Electric motor.

DISADVANTAGES:
1. Solenoid engine consume more electric power than electric
Motor.
2. Complicated design.

APPLICATION:
1.Car
2.Truck
3.Buses, etc.
As engine to give power to move it from one place to another place.
