Birthday Madness

It was going to be a lovely evening. Everything was perfectly put into

place. Though, I couldn’t help but think about what happened earlier today.
Something haunting, unforgettable, and tragic. I couldn’t get it off my mind.
This is supposed to be my night. The weather was nice, everything was set
up, my outfit was on point, hair done, and make- up was done. I was so
ready. “I’m so excited! We’re going to have the best night ever!” Said my best
friend Lisa. I was so nervous and anxious, yet so excited. It was my big
birthday bash tonight and I wanted everything to be perfect. It was an open
invite to everyone at my high school, so even the seniors at my school could
come too! I was turning 16 years old. I was only a sophomore and had the
biggest crush on the cutest, yet most mysterious senior in school, Julian. I’ve
never talked to him before and I don’t think he even knew that I existed, until
later that afternoon. It was beginning to get darker outside and it was almost
time for Lisa and I to make our appearance at the party.

I put on my coat and the happiest face I could find. I was just trying to
have a good time and get my mind off of what happened around 2PM. Lisa
and I made our grand entrance and everyone rushed over to me, wishing me
a happy birthday. There was dancing, bright neon lights, drinks, food, and
fun. There was a part of me that just didn’t feel right. A part of me that wasn’t
really there. I hit the dance floor and forgot all about my worries and troubles.
And for that moment, everything seemed alright. I then looked over my
shoulder and noticed a group of boys entering my party late. It was Julian
and his friends. He came. My heart was beating right out of my chest. I was
so happy yet spooked. He walked over to me. He asked me to go someplace
quiet to talk. I nodded and followed him into the lobby right outside of the
party room. He said, ‘I know you saw me today. I know it was you, and you
can’t deny it. All I’m saying is to just be quiet and forget everything you saw.’
And just like that, before I could even get a word in, he was gone. The guy for
me. The guy I saw earlier that day do that really bad thing. He was gone.

Lisa came out and found me alone. She told me to come back to the
party. When she saw my face she immediately knew something was wrong.
“Lisa, today I witnessed something I don’t think I will ever erase from my
head,” I said to her. She asked what was going on. I then told her everything.
“Earlier today around 2PM I was in the grocery store picking up some last
minute items for my party. And I saw Julian there. He was alone. He was
stealing some illegal items from the store. I had no idea what to do, so I
bought my items and left the store. I stayed around and looked through the
window to see what he was planning to do. I saw him go to the front of the
store and hold a gun to the cashiers head. He shot him.” I looked over at Lisa
and her mouth was wide opened in shock. When I left the store, he and the
cashier were the only two people in there. No one saw Julian shoot that
man except for me. He looked out the window. We made eye contact and
then I left. “That’s what he came to me to talk about,” I said. I don’t know what
to do. Do I let the guy of my dreams get away with this or do I report him to
the police?
