2 Description
The ILB222x is a cost-efficient 2W Ka-band interactive LNB with support for non-exclusive Ka-band and
support for polarization selection.
There are two versions: The ILB2220 can be mounted on Newtec’s ANT2010 75cm Ku/Ka-band antenna
and the ANT2025 100cm Ku/Ka-band antenna. The ILB2221 can be mounted on Newtec’s ANT2035
120cm Ku/Ka-band antenna. Apart from the horn antenna and the antenna mounting, both products are
identical. The resulting terminal configurations are listed in Table 1.
The ILB222x is used in combination with Newtec’s MDM2210 broadband access modem. The
combination ILB222x iLNB, ANT2010/ANT2025/ANT2035 antenna and MDM2210 modem is referred
to as a SAT2210 terminal. The SAT2210 terminals are used with the Newtec Dialog platform. The
ILB222x requires only one coax cable from the modem for both RX and TX.
The ILB222x covers wide frequency ranges in receive (18.1 to 20.2 GHz) and transmit (28.1 to 30 GHz).
The multiplying upconverter (MUC) consists of a X10 frequency multiplier circuit with an SSPA. The
frequency multiplier circuit provides a frequency conversion from an IF range of 2810-3000 MHz, to an
RF output range of 28.1 to 30 GHz. The LNB supports two bands: a low band from 18.1 to 19.3 GHz
and a high band from 19.05 to 20.2 GHz. The IF range is from 950 to 2150 MHz (low band) and 1000
to 2150 MHz (high band).
The ILB222x supports both left-handed and right-handed circular polarization in both transmit and
receive. Polarization for receive and transmit can be set independently through a simple mechanical
switch.
The ILB222x can generate 2W output power. Its power leveling functionality allows to lower the output
power with up to 6dB1. It contains embedded pointing functionality providing acoustic feedback on
received signal level during antenna installation.
