Red Deer Lake School I have been asked to provide a letter of recommendation for Ms. Ashley

403/938-5984 Ms. Luthin was a pleasure to have in my classroom over the duration of
Fax 403/873-9565 her practicum. She was dedicated, hard-working, and professional in all
aspects of her work at Red Deer Lake School. She consistently went
above and beyond what was asked of her and was asset to myself and

other staff members.

Ms. Luthin quickly established positive and caring relationships with all
students in the classroom. She easily maintained the classroom
expectations and was clear about defining her own. She was attentive to
ensuring all students were meeting these expectations and gave firm, but
gentle correction to those who were not. She was also conscious of when
students needed movement breaks and effectively incorporated them in
to her planning; she displayed a clear understanding of the
developmental needs of students at this age level.

Ms. Luthin was very well prepared with detailed and clear short- and long-
range plans. Her planning gave careful attention to prior knowledge and
to the individual needs of students. Her lesson objectives were always
carefully aligned to curriculum. She was very conscious of creating
lessons that would motivate and engage students. Each lesson had clear
outcomes defined and students were aware of how they would be
assessed. Her directions were clear and concise.

Ms. Luthin is a reflective and intuitive practitioner. She was keenly aware
of students’ abilities and was able to differentiate her lessons for those
who needed it. She structured all of her teaching so that students would
meet success at their level. Moreover, she gave careful consideration to
ensuring students fully understood concepts before moving on. She
effectively used a variety of assessment strategies to gather her
information; both her formative and summative assessments provided
valuable data which she was then able to use to modify her teaching is
necessary.

Ms. Luthin is also a reflective and thoughtful professional. She set very high
expectations of herself and, in my opinion, consistently met them. She has
many exceptional qualities and I feel sure she would be a welcome asset
to any staff fortunate to employ her.
