I. OBJECTIVES:
a. View and react critically to the short clip presented
b. Discover Philippine and Afro Asian literature as a means of expanding experiences
and outlook and enhancing worthwhile universal human values.
c. Differentiate facts from opinions.
d. Identify oneself with the people of Arabia and Israel though literature taking note of
the cultural differences so as to get the heart of problems arising from them.
e. Demonstrate appreciation and understanding of the clip viewed through group
differentiated task

i. Have the students accomplish the Agree-Disagree table before beginning the
lesson and after the lesson let them answer the same table. Compare their

Peace Conference?
2. According to the speaker, when does misery start? How can Islam
be the solution to the problems that beset the world?
3. What specific details are used by the speaker to substantiate each
of his assertions?
4. Why do you think the speaker encourages his audience to adopt
Islam? How do gestures or the intentional movements of the
speaker’s body help him convey his message?
5. What countries in the world adopt Islam as a religion?

Below are statements taken from the speech of Abdur Raheem
McCarthy; Identify whether the sentence expresses a fact or an opinion.
Write your answer in the second column; include a short explanation.

IV. ANALYSIS:
Opinions cannot be proven, however, they can be supported by facts and other
knowledgeable opinions. Facts can be proven with evidence, statistics, records, photographs,
data, etc.

V. ABSTRACTION:

1. What is a fact? How do you arrive at facts?

2. How does a fact differ from an opinion? Can an opinion be proven?

3. Is a fact the opposite of an opinion?

4. If a statement of fact is untrue or false, does it turn into an opinion? In the same logic, if an
opinion is believed by everyone, does it turn into a fact?

VI. APPLICATION
Write F if the statement is a fact and O if the statement is an opinion.

that are part of the Southeast Asia.

VII. AGREEMENT:
Using the same video the students will the accomplish the Group Differentiated Task
 Group the class into six and assign the following activity for them to present
in class. (15 minutes for the group work, 3-5 minutes/group for the
presentation)
1. Responding to Literature. Have the group respond to the video
watched by completing the sentence stem in the graphic organizer.
2. Question the author. Have the group analyze what was said in the
video, how well it was said, and how the article might be improved.
3. SOAPSTone. Have the group use the SOAPSTone tool to analyze the
article. Provide the elements asked in the graphic organizer.
4. Cause-and-Effect. Have the group identify the causes and results of
poverty.
5. Problem and Solution. Have the group record a problem presented in
the article and suggest solutions to address this problem.
6. Oreo Opinion Writing. Have the group discuss their view of the article,
state their reasons or thoughts about their opinion, give an example of
their reason, and restate their opinion.

 Inform the students on the following criteria.

the presentation – 40%
