Intensification of Indonesian TEFL

Hello Everyone!

I would like to share the intensification in TEFL in Indonesian that I found in journal article
entitled The Nature and Sources of Stress among EFL Teachers by Esmail Mohammdi,
Mohammad Ali Erfanpour
According to Apple as cited in Flinders & Thornton (2004: 188), intensification represents one
of the most tangible ways in which the work priviliges of educational workers are eroded. It
means teachers are forced to work hard without having time for themselves and spend their time
to complete their task .

Therefore I got some evidence that I found in journal by Mohammdi and Mohammad entitled the
nature and ource of stress among EFL Teacher.

In this journal explain that teacher intensification that experienced by the teacher make the
teacher stressed. They don’t have many time to relax with their family, not having enough time
to rest because they have to complete the additional job from school. Rhode et al. (2004) who
found issues concerned with work load, balance between work and personal life, proportion of
time spent on administration, relations with other staff, society’s view of teachers, pupil
behavior, class size, and pay as main sources of stress among teachers. The teacher feel stressed
when they are do the additional job from school

In another evidence that I found in my experience when undergraduate I have teach in one of
school. Exactly at that time was the new academic year. Every teacher was busy with
accreditation of school. Prepare everything that need. The teacher spend their time to do their
additional work at school. There are do the school administration, reviewing the student’s work,
reviewing the curriculum, reviewing the school condition and so on to complete the data that
required they do their job and spend a lot of time. For my opinion in my experience observe the
teacher intensification in the school some of them complained about the extra work they were
making, not a few of them felt tired and stressed and can’t do maximally when do the learning
activity in classroom, even they also feel that quality time with family is reduced because of all
the time they spend for do their additional job from school .
