1. A spectator heckles Team A member, A9, while he/she is sitting on Team A’s bench. A9
leaves the bench area and goes into the stands to confront the fan. The official assess
Team A’s head coach with a indirect technical foul for permitting A9 to leave the bench
area for an unauthorized reason. In addition, A9 and the head coach are ejected. Team B
is awarded two free throws and the ball for a division line throw-in. Is the official
correct?

2. Team A’s school colors are blue and gold and white. Prior to the game, an official notices
that several Team A members are wearing beige pre-wrap around the entire head and
blue wristbands. The official allows both colors to be worn since they are acceptable
colors under NFHS rules. Is the official correct?

3. A1 and B1 hit heads in diving for a loose ball and both appear injured. However, A1 is
immediately removed from the game by the officials as he/she is exhibiting signs
consistent with a concussion. Later in the game, A1 reports to the scorer’s table to
reenter the contest. The official does not allow A1 to reenter the game without a written
note from a doctor. Is the official correct?

4. The band from the home team is playing during a live ball and fans from the visiting
team are using artificial noisemakers during an opponent's attempted free throw. The
official stops the game and goes to the stands to notify the band director and points out
the spectators to the police officer. Is the official correct?

5. Time expires to end the game with a score of 64-61. The officials are moving off the court
toward a door to their dressing room. The referee enters the door and is in the locker
room, but the umpire is still in the court area she notices the scorer frantically trying to
get her attention. The umpire goes to the table to check on the scoring error, but will not
correct the scoring error because the referee was already in the dressing room. Is the
official correct?

6. Before the contest both coaches verify that their teams are legally equipped. In the third
quarter A1 is discovered wearing a ring. The official rules that A1 must leave the game
and remove the jewelry and may re-enter the game at the next substitution opportunity,
and a technical foul is assessed against A1 or the coach.

7. The U1 observes traveling by A1. At the same time, A1 tries for a field goal or the referee
observes contact by B1 on A1. The official rules that since the two acts occurred at
approximately the same time, the alternating possession error must be used to rectify
the play. Is the official correct?

8. A1 is fouled and entitled to two free throws under the double-bonus rule, however, the
officials indicate a one-and-one bonus situation. The first attempt is unsuccessful; B4
rebounds the ball and passes it up to B2. The error is discovered with B2 in possession of
the live ball near mid-court. The officials rule that this is not a correctable error because
the time frame to rectify the error has passed once the ball was in bounded . Is the
official correct?

9. A1 attempts a try that enters from under the rim, goes above the rim and reenters
through the basket. The referee rules that the basket counts only because the shot
attempt at one point entered from above the basket. Is the official correct?

10.A1 is fouled prior to the bonus, but erroneously A1 is awarded a one-and-one. The error
is discovered after B1 has the ball for a throw-in after both attempts are successful. The
official rules that awarding of the unmerited free throws is a correctable error is , but it
is NOT within the timeframe allowed to correct the error. Is the official correct?

obtaining that clearance rests with the coach/school, and need not be verified by
the officials.
If A1 appears at the scorer’s table to reenter the game, the officials shall assume
the coach/school followed the appropriate return-to play procedures and A1 is
eligible to participate.

4.No 1.18 – The officials should notify game management to instruct the band to
only play during the permitted time and have a public-address announcement
made stating that the use of any artificial noisemakers is prohibited at all times.

5.No - 2.2.4b Since one of the officials has not left the visual confines of the playing
area, the game jurisdiction has not ended. The umpire may work with scorer's
table personnel to rectify any errors.

7.No - 2.6 a The officials must decide definitely which act occurred first. There is
no rules coverage to administer the acts as occurring simultaneously. If the
violation occurred first, the ball became dead. If the ball was in flight during the
try before the touching of the boundary, there was no violation. If the contact
occurred after a violation was observed, it is not a foul unless the contact is
intentional or flagrant.

8. No - 2.10.1 a & 2.10.6 The error is discovered within the correctable error
timeframe, and shall be corrected. Team B securing the rebound and passing to a
teammate constitutes no change in team possession. Therefore, A1 will receive the
merited free throw with players on the lane and play resumes from the free throw.
