Lisa whined. “Jake, if you clean up your mess we can play a game,” Allison said.
“Okay,” Jake said. Allison gave him a handful of paper towels and he used them
to clean up the milk. “I want to play hide-and-seek,” he said. “Okay, I will be the
seeker first,” Allison said. “You two have thirty seconds to hide!” Allison covered
her eyes with her hands and counted slowly from one to thirty. “Ready or not,
here I come!” she called. Allison walked downstairs and peeked into the kitchen
closet. Nobody was inside. She checked under the couches in the living room.
She looked in the garage. Allison decided that nobody was hiding downstairs, so
she walked upstairs and continued her search. She opened the door to Lisa’s
bedroom and found her hiding under the bed. “I found you!” she squealed. “Okay,
now help me find Jake,” she told Lisa. Allison and Lisa searched all over the
house. They could not find Jake. “It has been twenty minutes and he is nowhere
in sight,” Allison thought. “I wonder where he is._________
Then Lisa replied, a! Let's search separately, I go to the patio and you go to the
roof, walk carefully and make no noise so you don't hear us.

Writing Practice – Finish the Story (4)
Directions: Read the story below. Then finish it with your own writing.
I am having a bad day today. I woke up this morning and my mom told me that
my dog, Muffin, is missing. Muffin lives outside in our backyard. The door of the
fence that surrounds our backyard was open this morning when my mom woke
up. My mom walked around our neighborhood and called Muffin’s name but he
did not come home. She asked all of our neighbors but no one has seen Muffin
since yesterday. I decided that I am going to make signs to hang all over town,
so if someone finds Muffin, they can call my family. I called my next door neighbor,
Kelly, to see if she wanted to help me make the signs. Kelly came over and we
made signs with a picture of Muffin and my phone number. Muffin is a big, friendly
Golden Retriever. He is five years old but he still acts like a puppy. Before we left
to hang up our signs, I put a bowl of Muffin’s favorite treats by the fence door.
Kelly and I went to the supermarket first. We asked the cashier if we could hang
up a sign on the wall. She said yes and wished us luck. Next, we went to the
library. The librarian told us that she saw a Golden Retriever walking past the
library while she was outside during her lunch break. She said that it was walking
in the direction of the playground, so we decided to go there next.....
when we arrived at the playground we were surprised that
our puppy Muffin was playing in the yard with another puppy
that was there, we decided to arrive without him noticing, then
we took it with great emotion and returned home very happy
and content.
