The charts show the average proportion of sodium, saturated fats and added sugars in

typical meals consumed in the USA. Daily typical meals include breakfast, lunch, dinner and
snacks. At breakfast, the consumption of the three nutrients is the lowest, at around 15% of
their total amount of the day. At lunch, more than one-fourth of sodium and saturated fat
of the day is consumed, while the percentage of added sugar is a little bit less at 19%. When
it comes to dinner time, the largest amount of sodium and saturated fat of the day is
consumed: 43% of sodium and 37% of saturated fat is included in the meal. Added sugar
proportion is not that much at supper, at 23%, but nearly half of added sugar of the day is
consumed at snack time, while the amount of sodium and saturated fat consumption is 14%
and 21% respectively. It should be noted that all of these three nutrients may be unhealthy
if overconsumed.
