All For A Game...

To begin with, a short story by the name of,“The Most Dangerous Game”, was written by

Richard Connell. With the intentions of writing an adventurous fictional story, Richard has

demonstrated and proved the audience with an obvious baseline throughout his writing, to inform

the reader on what will happen in further future events. After being isolated by his crew

members, Rainford decides to scan the land incase of any dangers. A loud deafening and

questionable bang was heard from a distance. Rainford then sprinted towards the noise in order

unravel his question. There he found the blood of an animal emerged into the floor. A man that

goes by the name Zaroff was standing near by. Following him, Rainford was able to find some

type of housing in the middle of an island. Rainford was soon invited into the eriri home to

discuss about, “the game.” Zaroff had made a deal with Rainford, informing him of the three day

survival. If Ford is able to survive all three days without a sign of defeat, then Zaroff will kindly

send him free. On the other hand, if Ford had been spotted anytime of the day his life will take a

daring turn. The game soon begins and with the help and guidance provided from his dogs Zaroff

is already on the hunt for Ford. He was caught in multiple traps, but lucky escaped. Realising

that run away (from his problems) will not provide him any good, he has set up traps along his

path. Digging a hole deep enough to be seen by the human eye, Ford waits for his prey to come.

The wolf leaps over and across the “fake” traps leading him into the real trap. This example

clearly shows how the author is nudging the audience for a prediction. Proving the reader with

enough facts to write a story line on their own. Their discussion on hunting foreshadows when
they supplies the reader that Zaroff had begun to execute humans because he believes that he has

the wealth and the power, he has an incredible amount of pride because of his wealth and power.

He does not want the reader to view him as a weakling/ lowlife. Therefore, Zaroff prefers to

execute humans than animals. Within the conversation discussed about hunting, Whitney had

mentioned that hunting is indeed a sport not a crime, in which an animal does not fear. In

conclusion, Ford is a very careful, but sly person. Zaroff is a smaller person than he thinks he is

because of his wealth, giving him power to raise his pride. Ford was able to survive, with his life

on the line.
