ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study was to test the effectivity of Apple Cider Vinegar and
Coconut Oil as an organic insecticide. Proving that Apple Cider Vinegar and Coconut
can be used as an organic insecticide was the primary aim of this research.
Commercialized Insecticides are effective on killing insects but they pose a threat in
our environment because of the harmful components they have. Apple Cider
Vinegar and Coconut Oil was our main component for our organic insecticide. The
Apple Cider Vinegar is a mildy strong acidic component which can be used to kill
harm insects when it comes in contact with the liquid. It is widely available in the
market and can be found in most of the homes. Coconut Oil has a lot of used and is
used by many as an component when making a organic insecticides. Oil molecules
repelled water molecules thus creating a surface of oil that covers the hard smell of
Apple Cider Vinegar. Apple Cider Vinegar and Coconut Oil are organic meaning it is
less harmful and pose no threat in our environment. The researchers conducted an
experiment to test the effectivity of the organic insecticides. The researchers
gathered the main components; Apple Cider Vinegar and Coconut Oil and the other:
Aloe Vera and Garlic, the researchers then mixed them all and poured the solution
into a spray bottle. Next, the researchers sprayed the organic solution unto two sets
of cockroaches and waited until 5 minutes for the result. This resulted in 3
cockroaches killed out of four. In conclusion, the organic insecticides the researchers
used was effective in killing the cockroaches

INTRODUCTION
A. Background of the Study

Many of us always had the problem of dealing with harmful insects like
roaches, fleas, termite, mosquitoes and many more that usually lingers in our home.
For instance, DOH recently declared National Dengue Alert because of the rapid
increase in dengue cases.
Apple Cider Vinegar has been scientifically proven to have many beneficial
properties. Unfiltired Apple Cider Vinegar contains “mother” which has strands of
proteins, enzymes and friendly bacteria. Not only that, because of its high acidity level
it can also be used as an effective aciditic base when making an organic insecticide.

B. Statement of the Problem

The study aims to test the effectivity of the mixture of Apple Cider Vinegar,
Coconut Oil, Aloe Vera and Garlic as an insecticide. Specifically, the study aims to
answer the following questions:
1.) Would Coconut oil, Vinegar, Aloe Vera and Garlic be an effective component in
the organic insecticide?
2.) Did the samples that was created worked against insects?
3.) Is there a significant difference in the effectivity level of sample 1 and sample
2?

C. Hypothesis
The mixtures of Apple Cider Vinegar, Coconut Oil, Aloe Vera Extract, and Garlic
will effectivity kill the cockroaches.
D. Significance of the Study
People – This can be used by people who wants to kill cockroaches
inexpensively without the need to buy a commercialized insecticide.
Environment – This can be used to reduce serious public health problems and
to reduce damage to agricultural and natural safe and healthy environment

E. Scope and Limitations of the Study

This study was conducted in Las Pinas National Highschool – Gatchalian Annex
during the school year, 2019-2020. 2 samples were made from the organic materials
that were taken from donations of individuals in Gatchalian Village. The cockroaches
were used as a test subject because they are more easy to catch. The nature of study
used is a simple spraying of the mixture onto the cockroach and using recording
materials such as a timer and a camera. The product may only use Apple Cider Vinegar
and Coconut Oil as its main component.

METHODOLOGY

A. Research Method Used

The method used in the study was the experimental method. It is a systematic
and scientific approach to research in which the researchers manipulate one or more
variables, and controls and measures any change in other variables. Therefore, it is
the accurate method to use for this study.

B. Research Design

The researchers prepared the following needed materials: Apple Cider Vinegar,
Coconut Oil, Aloe Vera, Garlic and Tap Water. After gathering the materials, we mixed
the ingredients and poured the mixture into a spray bottle. Lastly, we sprayed the
mixture onto 2 set of cockroaches. The independent variables were: Apple Cider
Vinegar, Coconut Oil, Aloe Vera, and Garlic. The controlled variables were: Amount of
misture used, No. of times sprayed, and time. The independent variables was: Result.
C. Procedure
First, the researchers will prepare all the ingredients and items that would be
used for the experiment. Then, they will pour each ingredient in separate
containers, pour all the ingredients in a bigger container and now mix it for 1
minute afterwards. Finally, to make the organic insecticide, the researchers will
pour the created concoction in a container with a lid that allows them to spray it.

B. Discussion
The researchers tested that the apple cider can be used as an insecticide killer
and it works faster than a classic insecticide killer. When the researchers mixed the
apple cider with tap water, aloe vera, coconut oil and garlic. A white like liquid is
conceived. The researcher used this mixture in reducing cockroaches. They found out
that the mixture of the apple cider vinegar with tap water, aloe vera, coconut oil and
garlic has a high level of effectiveness of killing cockroaches/insecticides.

CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATION

A. Conclusion
With the use of cockroaches and the mixtures, the researchers easily
determined that the mixtures was used in killing cockroaches. After using it with a
spray container and the mixtures. The trial Manifested a very contented outcome. The
research concluded that mixing Apple Cider Vinegar, Aloe Vera, Coconut Oil, Garlic,
and Tap Water has a high benefits as a cockroach killer.
B. Recommendation
The researchers advise the use of Apple Cider Vinegar as a subordinate
insecticide killer/repellent along with the along with Aloe Vera, Coconut Oil, and garlic.
The researchers also recommend making use of a unique and safe home. Constructed
Ingredients to make their own cockroach killer.
