OVERVIEW
Course Description The foundation course of operations management course in Term II
focused on designing and planning operations strategy of an
organization, aligned with its vision and mission statement. The next
step is to manage the designed systems to generate value throughout
the chain. This course fulfills this objective by incorporating essential
concepts, which play a vital role in planning & scheduling and inventory
management.
Learning Objectives 1. Apply standard inventory models to manage inventory more
efficiently.
2. Develop schedule for intermittent production operations.
3. Plan production for medium and short-term time horizons.
4. Apply lean manufacturing concepts to better utilize organizational
resources.
Pedagogy A combination of classroom teaching, real-life example discussion,
cases and articles, and in the end a live mini group project is to be
submitted and presented based on one or the major topics of
operations.
