Comments :
Kaitlyn is very capable educator in the Kindergarten classroom. She clearly
understands what students need to learn to their best ability. She was observed
teaching a small group of students during a Math lesson in order to review concepts
with them. She showed much patience and encouragement when children answered
incorrectly. When the children were playing at their different centers, Kaitlyn was
observed asking relevant questions to further their inquiry. Kaitlyn is able to clearly
identify the students with various exceptionalities and she is aware of how they learn.
She should consider incorporating hands-on activities to support their learning (ex:
have them make shapes with their hands and/or bodies to integrate more sensory
activities which may assist them in remembering the concepts.) Kaitlyn may wish to
broaden her knowledge of instructional strategies for reading instruction to ensure
that she can best support students who seem to have difficulty acquiring concepts of
print.

Comments :
Kaitlyn plans in advance and maintains a binder with related activities that she can
draw upon. Kaitlyn and the classroom teacher collaborate on the planning of small
group activities and in the documentation of student progress. The 2 educators track
student reading, writing and Math skills in a binder with individualized sections for
each child. They have documented evidence to show parents and to determine
improvement from one year to the next. Kaitlyn uses both paper to scribe a students
responses and the iPad to document student achievement.

Kaitlyn has a calm, gentle yet authoritative demeanor when necessary to express
herself. She demonstrates flexibility and initiative in carrying out the various teaching
responsibilities in the classroom. Students approach her with questions and concerns,
and she readily assists them in a logical and informative manner. She is punctual both
in her arrival at school and in her return to class following her breaks. She shows an
interest in the school atmosphere by attending staff meetings from her own desire to
learn and be informed of school policies and procedures.

Kaitlyn shows care and concern for student well-being at all times. Whether she is
required to work with a small group of children or to walk with a child with special
needs, she does so with confidence and a desire to be be helpful to the children in
her care.

Kaitlyn and the classroom teacher have a collaborative, friendly and professional
relationship. Together they plan how to address student needs and how to assess
achievement. Kaitlyn is always positive and friendly in her interactions with her
colleagues, administration and members of the community. She is seen in the class
as a co-teacher, and is treated as such by the classroom teacher as well as the
students and parents.

Comments :
Kaitlyn speaks clearly and is very articulate both orally and in writing. She has been
the primary source to share information with regional support staff within the Board,
and has done so with confidence and clarity. She and the classroom teacher share
ideas and feedback easily with one another. Kaitlyn joins in with staff events,
activities and keeps up to date by reading and contributing when necessary to staff
memos.

Comments :
Kaitlyn follows established Health and Safety practices for both herself and her
students. She is cognizant of risky student behaviours and puts an end to them
promptly. She is CPI trained and has attended feedback meetings. In addition, she has
requested and has demonstrated her knowledge of the use of PPE when necessary.
Kaitlyn uses common sense when dealing with student injuries. She should ensure
that relevant Board paperwork is completed when necessary.

Kaitlyn is a positive member and contributor as a classroom
educator and as a member of the Mackillop professional staff.
She is open to new ideas and suggestions and is flexible in
making changes when her teaching partner is absent or if
another change in her day is required.
