International-style Practice Examinations Introduction

Introduction
The International-style Practice Examinations have been designed to offer students an
opportunity to practice examination tasks in the style and format of three international
examinations (the Cambridge English Language Assessment Key English Test for Schools,
the Cambridge English Language Assessment Preliminary English Test for Schools, and
the ETS TOEFL Junior), based on the Got it! 2nd edition syllabus.

Please note that these practice examinations are not intended to simulate a real general
English examination. Students are only tested on language which is taught in Got it! 2nd
edition. If students are preparing for Key English Test for Schools, Preliminary English Test
for Schools, or TOEFL Junior however, these practice examinations will provide a useful
link between the two.

For each level of Got it! 2nd edition there are four practice examinations: two Mid-Year
Tests, and two End-of-Year Tests. Mid-Year Tests assess language which is presented in
Units 1–4, and End-of-Year Tests assess language which is presented in Units 1–8. Tests
are cumulative within and across the levels; for example, language that is presented and
tested in Starter Level may also be tested in the practice examinations for Level 1. Each
test comprises three papers. The charts below illustrate the different tests and papers:

Key English Test for Schools / Preliminary English Test for Schools

Paper 1: Reading and Writing Paper 1: Reading and Writing
Paper 2: Listening Paper 2: Listening
