V. Learning Experiences (5 Es)

Engage The teacher plays the song –Senorita by Shawn Mendes & Camila Cabello and let
the students make a dance step.
(3-5 I love it when you call me senorita
minutes ) I wish I could pretend I didn’t need ya
But every touch is ooh-la-la
Ooh I should be running
Ooh you keep me coming
For you
Land in Miami
The air was hot from summer
And sweat dripping off me
Before I even knew her name la-la-la
It felt like ooh-la-la-la
Yeah no

Sapphire and moonlight

We danced for hours in the sand
Tequila Sunrise
Her body fit right in my hands, la-la-la
It felt like ooh-la-la-la
Yeah

I love it when you call me senorita

I wish I could pretend I didn’t need ya
Its true la-la-la
Ooh I should be running
Ooh you keep me coming
For you

Locked in the hotel

There’s just some things that never change
You say, “Were just friends.”
But friends don’t know the way you
3

Taste –la-la-la

Cause you know its been a long time comin’

Don’t ya let me fall,oh

Ooh when your lips undress me

Hooked on your tongue
Ooh, love, your kiss is deadly
“Don’t stop”

I love it when you call me senorita

I wish I could pretend I didn’t need ya
But every touch is ooh-la-la-la
Its true la-la-la
Ooh I should be running
Ooh you know I love it

When you call me senorita

I wish it wasn’t so damn hard to leave ya
But every touch is ooh la-la-la
Its true la-la-la
Ooh I should be running
Ooh you keep me coming
For you
All along I’ll be coming for you
And I hope it meant something to you
Call my name I’ll be coming for you (coming for you)
Coming for you (coming for you)

For you, for you, for you

The following questions will be answered individually by a student volunteered.

1.1 What can you say about the song?

1.2 How many of you would like to write a song and become it a hit song?
1.3 Who among you would love to become a composer if given the chance?
1.4 In mathematics, you could become a writer by writing the equation of line,

Expected answer: Ax+by=c, where a, b, and c are real numbers and not equal to
zero.
1.5 What is the slope form format?

4.How do you

5. How do we
rewrite the
equation
y = 1/ 2 x + 3
in the form
Ax + By = C?

Explain
(10 Linear Equations
minutes ) Aside from the sets of ordered pairs and the graph, a linear function f defined by
f(x) = mx + b can also be represented by its equation.
Does the equation 3x + 2y = 6 describe a linear function? If yes, determine the
slope and the y-intercept.
The equation 3x + 2y = 6 can be solved for y:
3x + 2y = 6 Given
3x + 2y + (-3x) = 6 + (-3x)
Addition Property of Equality
2y = -3x + 6 Simplification
1/ 2(2y) = 1 /2(-3x + 6)
Multiplication Property of Equality
y = -3/ 2 x + 3 Simplification

slope m = -3 /2 while the y-intercept b=3

Standard Form: Ax + By = C, where A, B and C∈ℜ, A ≠ 0 and B ≠ 0; and Slope-

Intercept Form: y = mx + b, where m is the slope and b is the y-intercept, m and
b∈ℜ, and m ≠ 0.

How do we rewrite the equation 3x – 5y = 10 in the form y = mx + b? Determine its

slope and y-intercept.
Solution:
3x – 5y = 10 Given

3x – 5y + (-3x) = 10 + (-3x)
Addition Property of Equality
-5y = -3x + 10 Simplification
-1 5 (-5y) = -1 5 (-3x + 10)
Multiplication Property of Equality
6

y=35x–2 Simplification
The slope is 3 5 and the y-intercept is -2.
Illustrative Example 2.
How do we rewrite the equation y = 1 2 x + 3 in the form Ax + By = C?
Solution: y = 1 2x + 3 Given
2(y) = 2(1 2x + 3) Multiplication Property of Equality
2y = x + 6 Simplification
2y + (-x) = x + 6 + (-x) Addition Property of Equality
-x + 2y = 6 Simplification
(-1)(-x + 2y) = (-1)(6)
Multiplication Property of Equality
x – 2y = -6 Simplification

Elaborate For detailed ideas on linear equation ax+by=c and y=mx+b.

minutes ) concept related to ideas
The learner watch videos on youtube.com “Concepts of Linear Equations” and “Definition
of Linear Functions”
Follow up Questions:
1. What is a linear function looks like?
F(x) = ax+b
Y=mx+b
2. Give an example of linear function.
The equation of a line and slope intercept form is an example of linear function it
describes a specific relationship between x the independent variable and y the
dependent variable.
a. y=x
b. y=2x+3
3. When you graph a linear function, what is the form of the graph? It is a line.
4. What do you call the steepness of a line? Slope
5. What is the format of slope intercept form of a line? y=mx+b
6. How to simplify an equation into linear function?
*the teacher shows an example on the board
The most important is to practice by some exercise problem.
What is the key strategy to balance the equation?
The teacher makes an analogy using a balance scale. An equation is like a balance scale
using it the same amount of weight on its side then the side is balance, but add some
weight two side is not balance. It’s the same with equation.
It is to rearrange the equations and to master the 4 main arithmetical operations.
Whenever we make a change on the side of an equation we have to do the same to both
side. The same with other thing as long as we do the same then it is balance.
*And this point, the teacher integrates the Gender equality and Equity.
What do you mean by gender equality?
7

Gender equality means that the different behavior, aspirations, and needs of women and
men are considered, valued and favored equally. It does not mean that women and men
have to become the same, but that their rights, responsibilities and opportunities will not
depend on whether they are born male or female.
Gender equity means fairness of treatment for women and men according to their
perspective needs. This may include equal treatment or treatment that is different, but
which is considered equivalent in terms of rights, benefits, obligations, and opportunities.
Do we have gender equality in the Philippines?
The Philippines has one of the smallest rates of gender disparity in the world. In the
Global Gender Gap Index 2017, the Philippines ranked 10th out of 145 countries for
gender equality.
Why we need equity? (Accepts learners varied answers)

Evaluate Rewrite the following equations in the form y = mx + b and identify the values of m and b.
(10 1. 2x + y = 9
minutes ) 2. x + 2y = 4
3. 5x + 2y = 7
Rewrite the following equations in the form Ax + By = C.
4. y = 1/ 2x + 3
5. y = 5x + 7
6. y = 3x – 8
VI. Learning This activity is the transfer task. You have to perform this in your own community.
Enablement
( 10 Situation:
minutes ) You are a composer. Every year, you always have survey on the different issues that
concern every member in the neighborhood. For the next year, your focus is on the
gender equality and equity of every household. You are tasked to prepare a song which
will speaks about coequality. You are to convey a message of gender equality evolution.
You are expected to present your composed song to your community. Your output will be
assessed according to the rubric below.
