Bida Bida: Aye sir, We will be ready to get underway for about 10 minutes.

Captain: Heave up the bow anchor *engine and sea sound effects

Huh (buntong hininga) It is true life working onboard wasn’t a piece of cake. This worn out body,
sleepless night’s endless paper works and documentations, longingness and emotional breakdown are
already associated in the terminology "Seaman".

Voice in the speaker: Mayday. Sir emergency in the engine.

Bida bida: Copy that

*engine room (facing 2 officers giving instructions)

Bida bida: We will depart at exactly 18:00 and we need to manage that given time to maximize the
optimization of the engine.

1 Officer: Copy that ser

2 Officer: Ser regarding the new engine cadet. Is there an ample time to orient the cadet.

Bida bida: I can handle that myself

*busy doing some troubleshooting

*opens the door

Cadet: Good evening ser Cadet blah blah blah Reporting for duty.

*takes off his gloves, checking around the cadet

Bida bida: Good evening, Tonight I'll give you some quick orientation about the ship especially the
engine, your duties and responsibilities and your very own cabin in the ship. Get ready to familiarize to
the system we are using here

Cadet: Copy that ser.

*insert montage (tour the cadet)

Bida bida:The night went well for the new cadet. He easily adopted to the new environment here. The
hot temperature from the engine, the quality of workmanship, the quantity of load and the loneliness
present in the ship.

Bida 2x: Your duty will start at 13:00 to 15:00 pm and 13:00 to 15:00 in the morning.

about yourself?

Cadet: I am Blah blah blah, I am from the province of Cebu.

Bida bida: Oww you are from cebu, I really miss the Sinilog Festival of Cebu, there lechon with matching
saucy dip of gravy.

Cadet: Ayee ser, that is our delicacy, the crunchiness and juiciness of the meat.

Bida bida: So far, what can you say about our profession

Cadet: Hhhmmm (thingking) *looks at the sea. I think ser It is really a job for a steadfast heart. *looks to
bida bida. The fact that you are away from the source of your strength and happiness, your family; it is
really a tough job.

Bida bida: It is good that at a very young age, you understand the sacrifices of the seafarer

Cadet:With all due respect ser, Can I ask you ser why did you pursue your career as a seafarer despite
those sacrifices.
Bida bida: I personally live in Bacoor, Cavite. I have three kids, with a happy wife and they were my
sanctuary. A big family needs a big amount of financial support, so I guess that’s one. It was from my
childhood when I started to be ambitious in life. I wander in the sea looking for ships and wonder
around how they float in deep water and the operation itself. I could vividly remember everything
especially my life as a midshipman in college

*krrriiinnggg (bell rang)

Bida Bida: *looking outside.

Prof: Mr. Bida bida, mr. bida bida

*all classmate: Huuuuuuuuuyyyyyyyyyy

Bida Bida: Am, am so sorry sir

Prof: Next time I’ll send you out in my class understood

*nod

*continues to talk:

Bida bida: I could still remember my professor’s entire teaching and life lessons. The most remarkable is
to be attentive and use your common sense. Especially in our major before, my genius prof tends to say
“Mali yan”. Everything is going well in college. The institution itself helped me to mold my character as a
seafarer.

*camera at the back, focus on them while they continue to share taught (kwentuhan lang)

Cadet: Sir I need to attend to my duty sir, thank you for your inspiring story.

Bida bida affirms

Bida bida: He reminds me of myself during my youthful days, so energetic, with sense of humor and
burning passion for learning. I could say that there would be times that a storm would devastate your
ship.

Scene 4: Throwback (Buhay ni bida bida)

*offers resume to the company utility.

Bida Bida: Ahhh ser I am applying as an engine cadet for the company

Utility: Owww I am so sorry, we are not offering cadetship training. You will be lucky enough to find a
company training cadets like you.
Bida Bida; Ohh I see. Thank you

*goes out of the building. The setting is very hot, noisy with vehicle noises, and he is already tired
looking for a company to apply with

Bida bida: Where should I go next (*checks a company name in his checklist) Maybe I should try my luck
here. *walks away

Bida bida: Tay, What are you doing you had been drinking all day.

Tatay: leave me alone you worthless son, if it is not for your ambition to become a seafarer your mother
should stay here with us. Look, she already have her own family in Dubai.

Bida Bida: Am so sorry tay,

Tatay: looks away with hatred. You see being a seaman is worthless, it is pointless, is there a company
that already accepted you. There is none, because there is no room for the poor people to have a good
occupancy. It is better to stay here and help me cultivate our plants.

*bida bida enters the house

*black out

*narration:

Bida bida: Despite of those words from my father I still pursue my dreams as a seafarer. Then one day.

Scene 5:

Bida bida: Yes, it’s me speaking how may I help you?

Utility: Sir, our company is urgently looking for an engine cadet the chief marine engineer would like to
see you.

Bida bida: Is that true, ooww thank you sir for that wonderful news.

Utility: Goodluck ser.

*transition to the door of the office

*knocks on the door

Marine Engineer(Boss): come in, have a seat

Bida bida: thank you ser

door of the office)

*in the house

*may dalang pasalubong sa tatay

Bida bida: Tay, Tay I already have a job.

Tatay: Huh. Your just good at starting things, when you got tired eventually you will quit that job.

Tatay: Let’s see up to what extent your dreams will bring you.

*transition

*show airplane leaving the country

*narration

Bida Bida: It was the cold months of November when I left the country to work as a seafarer. I’m actually

Bida Bida: Aye sir, sorry for that sir.

Foreign officer: Better be huhhhh

Bida bida: Tay? Are you drinking?

Tatay: No, no not totally just a small entertainment

Bida Bida: Tayy.. I told you to minimize being drunkard, it will make your medical condition even worse.

Tay: Don’t lecture me about my life. Prioritize your foolish dreams huuhh.

*call ended

Scene 6:

*narration: I finish my contract and immediately took examination for the position of officer in charge. I

*black

* it has been 4 years ever since my father left me without anything. Emptiness filled my heart as I am
sailing the seas of the Pacific. I am now the Current Chief Marine Engineer, taking management of the
Engineering department. I have my own lovely family and I am already contented with what I have.
Through Ups and downs I never lose hope and faith to the Lord, for he is guiding me as I sail the whole
