"I Dreamed a Dream": A Reflection essay on the film, "Front of Class", by Peter Werner

The movie entitled “ Front of the Class” is something that all people should watch. It is like a

wake- up call to everyone that illness can never hinder someone from getting what he really wants

in life. It is not a secret to all that this world is surrounded by millions of people and by that being

said, not all experience perfection in terms of life. Some may suffer from illness, disabilities and

whatnots but it doesn’t mean that, that someone is less of a person. As an aspiring teacher, the

movie touched my heart in so many ways. It gave me an impact that I can never forget in this

course of time and that is to never treat students who have special needs badly. As a teacher, it is

my duty to be the bridge of the students with or without illness to become successful in life.

Moreover, after watching the movie, I’ve come to realize that you can only consider yourself

a good teacher when you treat your students unequally. This may sound negative since the

“unequal” word carry a connotative power which is a negative meaning, but truly I believe that as

a teacher it is best to know what’s really the need of that specific student. I should give the

appropriate attention and things of the students not just for the sake of equality. Every student,

especially with the ones who have special needs, have different wants and needs in life and I should

attend to that differently. With this, I know that myself has been put into use and I couldn’t wait

for the day where I can see my students crowned with laurels of success.
