Your meeting will GoToMeeting.

GoToMeeting is extremely user friendly and easy to use, but here are few tips
and tricks to make sure your interview goes as smoothly as possible.

Before Your Interview

Check Your Environment:
• Enable your webcam before launching the program and try different places.
• Make sure the area is well-lit, quiet and appropriate for an interview.
• The least amount of noise is ideal. This means both audio noise AND visual ‘noise’. You don’t want
the interviewer to be focused on anything other than you.
Downloading GoToMeeting Locally: GoToMeeting has a desktop version as well as a web version. It’s
advised to download GoToMeeting locally onto your computer prior to your interview so you can utilize all of
the features and benefits. You can download the program by clicking here.

Be Early: Even though GoToMeeting only takes seconds to connect, it’s always better to be early. If you
connect before the interviewer, you’ll see a screen explaining that you’re waiting for the meeting organizer.

Helpful Information:
• Meeting ID – the nine digit string of numbers after the forward slash in the URL.
For example, in this URL, the bolded section is your meeting ID www.gotomeeting.com/123456789
• GoToMeet.Me – this is a ‘meeting room’ set up on the interviewer’s GoToMeeting account. It’s
essentially an alias for easy access to their recurring meeting. Treat this the same way you would a
normal GoToMeeting link. The only difference is you don’t have a meeting ID.
Test With Your Coordinator: This is not required, but can ensure your program launches successfully and
your microphone/webcam is functioning properly.

Once Connected
Audio: You have two options for audio. Both options offer different benefits, however for clear connection
purposes, it’s advised to dial-in using your telephone.
• Computer audio (i.e. speakers/headphones and microphone): This option is probably the easiest,
but keep in mind, slow internet speed or a poor connection could negatively affect audio quality. To
connect, simply choose this option in the GoToMeeting control panel. GoToMeeting will
automatically use your default settings for speakers/microphone.
• Phone Call: This option is advised to ensure clear audio throughout the duration of your meeting.
To connect, choose this option in the GoToMeeting control panel and dial the number displayed in
the panel. Once connected you will first be asked for a Meeting ID and then for an “Audio PIN”,
which can be found under the phone number on the control panel. If you connect early enough, you
can sometimes get all of the dialing completed before the host/interviewer arrives.

Video/Webcam:
• Be prepared to share your webcam
• Once connected, click the webcam
icon located on the control panel.
Attendees: In the control panel, you’ll be able to view the attendees for the meeting and icons showing
whether they’ve enable video/audio which look like this .
Chat: GoToMeeting also has a chat window located in the control panel. You can send a private message to
the organizer, or send a public message to everyone in attendance.
