Fashion is a term commonly used to describe a style of cloths worn by most of the people.

Fashion changes from time to time. It usually remains popular for about 1-2 years and then is
replaced by yet another fashion. It is inherent in the human nature to adore changes.

Fashion trends changes with the time. People love to follow them. The fashion has a great impact
on personality. Pakistan is very popular in term of fashion trends. In Pakistan fashion trends
changes within hours. One can never predict what will be the upcoming fashion. Following the
fashion trends show how much update you are or you are in touch with the world.

“Fashion is something you are comfortable with and something you can carry” said 21 years old
Amna Jamshed from Allama Iqbal medical college. The most talked topic in the line of youth is
the arrival of short shirts again. The youth was not completely done with the long shirt fashion.
Before they could grasp the long shirt designs and trendy frocks, the long shirt trend is already
going coming summer. Everyone was still left with a lot of experiment with long shirts. The
classy frocks, trendy anarkali and A line shirts fashion was on its peak.

In early 70’s 80’s and 90’s short shirts were in fashion with shalwar. With the change in time the
trousers replaced the shalwar and then pants were in fashion. Now in 21st century short shirts
were in fashion for last 2 3 years. They were in fashion with loose patyala or straight shalwar.
For 2 3 years this fashion was on its peak. Everyone followed it. Girls were found crazy about
that fashion trend.

But now the trend of long shirts is in. Long shirts rapidly replaced the short shirts. Unlike short
shirts this fashion took time to become popular. Many girls were not ready to say goodbye to
short shirts but end of the day everyone gave up. And once the long shirts are accepted, now no
one is ready to get off them. Long shirts are in fashion with trousers and straight pants even with
chori dar pajamas. This trend is followed by everyone and everywhere.

The new fashion is again the revival of short shirts, which was at peak some two three years
back. The only difference is that this time it is coming with chori dar pajama which is not a
perfect dress for all kind of bodies. Long shirts were for both fat and slim girls. It makes girls
look slim, lean, long and classy. These were the reasons behind the popularity and demand of
long shirts. Baby girl, teenager, mature girls and women were able to carry it with comfort.

But it is contradictory in short shirts fashion. Some of the girls are uncomfortable in wearing
short shirts with chori dar pajama. Many girls like this fashion and want the short shirts back in
fashion. Anam Ehsan resident of Iqbal Town from Lahore said” the short shirts fashion should be
back in town as it makes girls look stylish”.

Short shirts expose your body. According to some girls, short is not a dress in which you are well
covered from many aspects. Short shirt with chori dar pajama is not for chubby girls. The girls
who are healthy from the hips or lower part cannot afford to wear them. You need to be skinny
or smart. If you really want to carry this fashion then you should reduce your butts and legs.

One of my cousins visited Karachi and told us that the short shirt is getting common every day.
The girls who were not comfortable with long shirts are already following this fashion in
Karachi. No doubt more or less this fashion will be back in Lahore very soon. According to hafiz
a Hajra from Lahore College, “I don’t understand what actually girls are up to when they wear
short shirt in public place.

A survey was made the views and thinking of boys on short shirts fashion. Out of 100 percent 80
percent boys were in favor of short short. They said girls look hot in short shirts. Abdul Rehman,
a banker in AL-FALAH bank said “it is acceptable for their female friends and collogues to wear
short shirts but when it comes to your wife or sister, a boy never accepts this fashion.”

Coming back to long shirts fashion the long shirts not always mean shirts. One can go for variety
of frocks, a line shirts, Anarkali Pishvas and tunics. Girls of all age can wear them. The loose
long frocks are considered to be best dress for girl having some fat on tummy or pregnant girls.
The loose, the long frocks helps you in hiding your excess fat and make you look slim. The A
line shirt with a huge flayer helps you in hiding your pear shape body Another key point to long
shirt is it makes you look taller.

Long shirts also give us a larger area to be embellished. One has the liberty to have a big pice of
embroidery till the abdomen or hang extensions of ‘banarsi’ pieces at the ends. Multi-colored
panels are also in fashion which is only possible in long A-line shirts or frocks. Meanwhile the
short shirts have less length and are skin fitting and therefore are disadvantageous for more
adornments.

They have also given way to abstract designs, outrageous color scheming and miing of different
materials.

While the short shirts are good for girls having good height, skinny body, slim and trim legs.
They even make you look small and bulky. The short shirts are supposed to be fitted. Most of the
families do not prefer fitted outfits. and avoid short shirts taking it as an exposing dress. They are
even acceptable with shalwar but with chori dar pajama, for some girls they are completely out
of question.

Short shirts are also not ideal for carrying out big tot bags as they already give a ‘squre, box-like
image’. Long A line shirts and frocks complement today’s larger bags perfectly. The bags do not
have to be hung upon the shoulder (as with short shirts they usuaky reched below the shirt lenth)
and can be carried stylishly on the arm.

Accessorizing them with long chains and heavy bangles is also not a good idea as they become
overloaded and present a shorter image.
The colors scheme used in short shirts are the minimal. While in long shirt you can change the
color scheme like you can wear red trousers if your shirt is red and black.

A survey tells that out of 100 percent 60 percent girls are against the short shirt fashion.

Fashion changes because its human nature to be easily bored with what it has. May be in a few
years we might see or Bermuda shorts common in Pakistan. It will be up to us to see if it is
according to our religious teachings or cultural norms. Fashion, though its of short shirts or long,
anarkali frocks or maternity, it only matters if WE look good in it. Making your own statement
and setting the trend worth following should be the aim of every person, not copying someone
else and look utterly hideous.
