1. PURPOSE

This Operation Procedure is established to ensure an adequate functional

description of the Bulk Handling System (BHS). Furthermore it shall assure
that the operation of the bulk tanks is executed in such a way that damage to
equipment and personnel is avoided.

2. EXTENT

This Operational Procedure deals with the operation of the Bulk Handling
System (BHS), containing the equipment included in the BHS Operation
Manual for Focal 832-90m RDSV

3. Personnel

All operation of the BHS shall be performed by qualified personnel.

4. Compressed Air System

The Compressed Air System consists of the following components:

- 2 of Air Compressors
- 2 of Air Dryers

For detailed operation and maintenance instructions, see separate sections for
these items.

Prior to start of compressors and dryers, the cooling water system must be
running and inlet valves for compressors and dryers must be open. Dryers
should be started prior to the start of compressors, latest at the same time.
DRYERS MUST ALWAYS RUN WHILE AIR COMPRESSORS ARE IN USE.

Any humidity in the air may cause cement build-up and in the end will lead to
complete blocking of the pipeline system.
Humidity in the air may also cause problems with the fluidizing cloth over a
period of time.

5. Loading of Bulk Tanks

Ensure that the valves for the load line to the tank(s) to be filled are open.
Load line valves to the other tanks have to be closed. Do also ensure that the
vent line valves for the tank(s) to be loaded are open, while the other vent line
valves have to be closed.
Dust cyclone and collector tank have to be in loading mode, which means
open vent line through cyclone and open valve between cyclone and collector.
The cement supplier may blow air through the pipelines prior to loading, to
ensure free circulation throughout the system.

When free circulation is ensured, filling may be started. It is essential that the
volume to be filled is known, to ensure that overfilling does not occur.
Overfilling may block the vent lines.

When tanks are filled, make sure that the valves on the filling line and vent line
are closed. If other tanks are going to be filled, repeat the filling procedure.
For operation of dust cyclone and collector tank during loading, see separate
operation procedure.

6. Discharging of Bulk Tanks

Prior to start the discharge operation, ensure that sufficient air pressure is
present and that the air supply is dried.

Feed air through the air supply line into the tank(s) to be discharged, building
up the required pressure for the transportation. Ensure the vent line on the
receiver station is open. Open the actuated valve(s) to start the discharge.
Purge Air valves on the actual discharge line s should be 50% open when
discharging starts. For optimal discharge, the purge air volume is to be
adjusted based on operational experience for the actual media and system.

When the tanks are empty, tank pressure will fall. Air supply line should be
closed. When the tank is depressurised, discharge valves to be closed.

Follow the same procedure for all tanks to be discharged.

OPERATION PROCEDURE
FOR RI DUST COLLECTOR & CYCLONE

1. General Technical description

The Dust Collector and –Cyclone is an integral part of the Bulk Handling
System (BHS) vent lines. This is operated during filling of the BHS and de-
pressurisation of the bulk tanks using vent line. The purpose of the Dust
Collector and Cyclone is to collect any dust/bulk, blown into the vent lines, and
to allow this bulk to be discharged back to the bulk storage tanks.

The Dust Collector is a pressure vessel designed according DNV Class III.
During loading of bulk, it will collect the dust and bulk, which is blown into the
vent line.
The Dust Cyclone is an atmospheric vessel, which mechanically separates the
dust and bulk from the vent line. The separated dust will fall into the dust
collector and the “cleaned” air routed to a safe and suitable location through
the vent line.
The vent line from the dust cyclone must always be open while cyclone
and system is in use.
The collector is equipped with a level sensor for high level, and a pressure
gauge to monitor the pressure while discharging the collector. A pressure
safety valve is installed to prevent the dust collector from being over-
pressurised.

2. Loading of Bulk Tanks/De-pressurisation of Bulk Tanks using Vent Line

Before loading of a bulk tank starts, the actual collector should be emptied
following the instruction ref. section 3 ‘Discharging the Dust Collector’. Failing
this, bulk will be blown into the vent line and discharged to open air. A level
sensor is mounted on the top of the dust collector to give alarm when the
collector is full.

When loading the bulk tanks, all valves on vent line between the bulk tank
being loaded, and the actual dust collector/ -cyclone in use, should be opened.
Allowing free ventilation of the system.

The 6”valve between the dust cyclone and collector should remain open during
loading of a bulk tank. This will allow any dust to be collected at the bottom of
the dust collector as the ventilation air passes through the system.

3. Discharging the Dust Collector

Prior to start discharge of the dust collector, ensure that the 6”valve between
the collector and the cyclone is fully closed. Failing this, dust will eventually be
blown in the vent line.

Ensure that sufficient air pressure is present and that the supplied air is dried.

Open valves on the discharge line to the selected receiver station (bulk tank).
Ensure the vent line on the receiver is open. Open the air supply into the
collector.

During emptying of the collector, the pressure will fall. After emptying, close
the air supply line.

Finally close all discharge valves from collector tank to receiver station and
reopen the 6”valve between cyclone and collector. Make sure that there is no
pressure in the collector tank prior to opening of 6”valve. The collector/cyclone
is now ready again for operation during loading of bulk to bulk storage tanks.
