Accompanying the explanation video are these instructions that will give you a better
understanding on how to question the spectator to retrieve the chosen card using comedy and
entertainment. This type of misdirection will certainly work if performed at a pace and will destroy
any inkling that you are “fishing”..

Wayne has set out the questions in such a way, that you will know the chosen card within three
pages and this will give you ample time to locate and ready the chosen card for the reveal.

Please learn the questions and practice the moves before performing EyePad and you will have a
stage piece that is a reputation maker.

The eye chart principle was a little know idea from the master mind of Bob Hummer. Here is a
brief explanation of it’s workings.

Lets say the spectator choses the card 7 of hearts…

You will ask them to just think of the value …. Remember, the lines are valued 1, 2, 4 and 8 and
adding the confirmed lines we astatine the value of the spectators chosen card.

1 9A375 Is it on the first line? YES You think 1

2 3 7 2 6 10 Is it on the second line? YES You think 1 + 2 = 3

4 75Q64 Is it on the third line? YES You think 1 + 2 + 4 = 7

8 J 9 Q 8 10 Is it on the fourth line? NO

Therefore, the answer would be 7

Is it a black card? NO You now know it’s either Hearts of Diamonds

So it’s not the 14 of Spades?

Is is a Diamond? NO You now know it’s the 7 of Hearts

Let’s go for another card, say the Jack of Clubs…

1 9A375 Is it on the first line? NO

2 3 7 2 6 10 Is it on the second line? NO

4 75Q64 Is it on the third line? NO

8 J 9 Q 8 10 Is it on the fourth line? YES You think either an 8 or a Jack

Is it a black card? YES You now know it’s either Clubs or Spades

Is it a Spade? NO You know it’s a Club

A picture card. YES You know it’s the Jack of Clubs

Please note : This question is asked more as a statement and if the spectator says NO, you say I
knew that!
 The following is a flowchart of the the questions asked, please refer back to the video to see how
the questions are asked before the turning of each page of EyePad.

A Spade? A black card? So not the 14 of Spade

YES NO

But not the 14 of Spades A Diamond?

Please Note : If the spectator says that their card value is only visible on the last line, it could either be an 8
or Jack. Therefore, once you have established the suit, only then ask if it’s a picture card to establish
whether it’s an 8 or Jack. However, if they say “NO” to all the lines, we know it’s a King.
