A Case about sex transplant

In a symposium of personhood, a transvestite gave his testimony. He has been living as a homosexual
for years. Coming from a rich and well- known family, he is able to travel a lot. In his travels he has met
different kinds of people. This has enabled him to develop intimate relationship with men. Finally, he
was able to experience what he believes to be an authentic love. These made him decide to get married
in Europe. In the said testimony, he admitted that there were still times when he felt uncomfortable and
guilty of his behaviour. He is able to satisfy the needs of his husband, but he still fill anguish and
emptiness with him. This feeling disturbs and confuses him.

If you were in his situation would you consider altering your sex and undergo a sex transplant because
of your sexual preference?

Resolve, that the transvestite’s decision to alter his sex and undergo a sex transplant is justifiable.

Arguments:

Socio Cultural:

1. It is justifiable because, having a sex transplant is his desire.

2. In our culture today being a transvestite is no longer being discriminated by the society,
meaning homosexuals and trans-genders are openly accepted.
3. It is justifiable because, if he undergo sex transplant, psychologically he can be stable. The
feeling of uncomfortable and guilty may be relieved and it is also possible that if he undergo sex
transplant he can feel more fulfilled since he can fully satisfy the needs of his partner.

Medical / Legal:

1. Legally, there are no laws pertaining on the prohibition of sex transplant, thus it is justifiable if a
person wants to go under surgery it is his choice and
2. Considering that he comes from a rich and wealthy family. Financially he can afford to change
his gender and with the current medical advancement today it becomes possible. Thus who we
are? To stop him and I stated before that there is no laws stating that sex transplant is banned
or prohibited.
3. With the advancing technology and medical procedures, sex transplant became more possible,
since there is less chance that the procedure will fail.
Biblical / Moral

1. In our society today, gender reassignment is no longer as much of a moral issue as before.
People who wants to express themselves in such a way has the freedom.

People used to label such desire as morally unacceptable as it is linked to perversion and
closeted unmet fantasies. We now have a better understanding of things and are given more
capacity to be considerate- we must use these well.

2. Gender reassignment is a way of expressing what a person really wants or desires. A person who
does not harm or inflict damage to others with his action, is a morally acceptable person.
3. It is a venue for self-expression and for being true to oneself.
4. Ethically speaking, such actions are even praised by some countries like Thailand, Iran, Europe
and India. Nothing is purely evil and we must be reminded that sometime what we see as long is
perceived by other cultures as pure.
