CHAPTER III

COMMUNITY PROFILE

This chapter covers the graphical representations of the quantified baseline data

gathered from conducting a two-day survey in Barangay Kayquit III Purok 3 and 4, Indang,

Cavite. It categorically represents the profile of the community and household classified

by demographic profile, socio-economic, cultural characteristics, environmental factors,

socio-demographic profile, health, medical history, and nutrition.

A. Demographic Profile, Socio-Economic, and Cultural Characteristics

The Demographic Profile, Socio-Economic, and Cultural Characteristics covers the

frequency distribution of the residents according to the age group, gender, civil status,

ethnic group, religion, educational attainment, occupational age bracket, status of

employment, types of occupation, field of occupation, structure of the family, leadership

in the family, general family relationship, family income, everyday expenses, budgetary

decision making, decision making in matters of health, and adequacy to meet basic

necessities.

B. Environmental Factors

The Environmental Factors includes the frequency distribution of the residents

according to the length of residency, residential location, house ownership, type of house,

number of rooms, number of rooms for sleeping, person per room ratio, person per

bedroom ratio, ventilation, power source, water supply, water supply for drinking, drinking

storage, food storage, cooking facility, waste disposal, methods of disposal, toilet facility,

general sanitary condition, domestic animals, and rabies vaccination.

C. Socio-Demographic Profile

The Socio-Demographic Profile consists of the frequency distribution of the

residents according to length of the congestion of neighborhood, security at night,

recreational facilities, frequency of leisure time, participation of public assemblies,

assembly’s location, communication facility, form of transportation and type of

transportation.

D. Health, Medical History and Nutrition

Health, Medical History and Nutrition covers the frequency distribution of the

residents according to length of the past illness, present illness, hospitalization reason,

length of confinement, operation, awareness of blood group, blood type, immunization

vaccines, medical care, nutritional assessment, methods of contraception, dental care, and

maternal and child care.
